The Twins fell behind very early, like on the first pitch. Chris Archer started out the Twins game by giving Tim Anderson a one-run home run and continued to struggle throughout the game. Archer fought through three innings giving up two runs before being relieved by Josh Winder, who gave up a solo home run in the seventh.

Freaking out has commenced behind the scenes at Twins Daily this week. Some new partnerships and the interest in the team has kicked off some stunning growth. When one starts a Twins-focused web site in 2012, just as the bottom falls out, it’s natural to wonder what can happen when the team finally rights the ship. It’s also natural that seven years later, one has completely forgotten that can happen. But we’re seeing it, so I’m going to vary the order of this week’s report to call out some exciting developments.

The offseason is upon us again! With the ratification of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), free agency is back, and teams can start making trades again. The Twins made some moves before the lockout, but they are still in need of pitching. There are several pitchers that might be available via trade. 

Recently, I had the privilege to sit down with three outstanding wives of Minnesota Twins players. After the meeting was over, I sat back in my chair and took a deep breath because as impressive as the players are, their wives are the real MVPs, and these are their stories.

Thursday night, we watched as the Twins imploded late in the game against the Yankees. The depleted pitching staff struggled to keep the Yankees off the board and ultimately cost the Twins a win. The offense is on a trajectory for postseason action, but the pitching rotation and bullpen aren't even close. With the trade deadline coming in just under two months, the Twins need to capitalize on trades for available starting and back-end bullpen help.
