With position players reporting to camp on Monday, spring training is about to be in full swing for the Minnesota Twins. Here are some key competitions, decisions, and storylines to track in the four-plus weeks leading up to Opening Day.

With pitchers and catchers reporting to camp on Thursday, a new baseball season is upon us. The arrival of 2021 brings a mix of emotions for Twins fans, who are generally heartened by back-to-back division titles and an intriguing offseason, but impatient in the midst of an 0-for-18 postseason slump.

With Paul Molitor set to be announced as the new Twins manager on Tuesday morning, focus now shifts to the makeup of his coaching staff. Molitor and Ryan will likely work together to assemble this group, so it stands to reason that several members will be internal (and even incumbent) selections.

Molitor worked alongside hitting coach Tom Brunansky in a 2014 season that saw several young hitters succeed. Bruno seems like a lock to return. Terry Steinbach, Gene Glynn and Doug Mientkiewicz are all names within the organization who could land on Molitor's staff.

However, the Twins may look outside for help at the one spot that figures to draw more attention than any other: pitching coach.

With Opening Day less than a week away, the Minnesota Twins are in the process of making some hard decisions. And for one local grad student, it means a lot of extra hours in the library and at her laptop.

With no baseball being played (yet) Baseball Reference and Out of the Park Baseball 21 teamed up to simulate the 2020 season on a daily basis in real time. OOTP does the simulating and Baseball Reference publishes the stats and box scores on it’s site. Today we’ll see how our Minnesota Twins have fared.

With most top free agents off the board, and Minnesota's pursuit of Hyun-Jin Ryu feeling somewhat hopeless, the front office will likely need to make a trade to add the requisite impact starter this offseason.

Provided they are ready to pony up, the Twins could almost certainly acquire one of these two crowded-out left-handers.
