    Riverbrian

These are the days that test who you are as a Minnesota Twins Fan. Rough Start... Expectations not being met... and a small sample size. Do you start throwing babies out with the bath water or do you just keep washing this baby.

All I know is that many of you have got the baby by both ankles and are looking for a place to dispose of it.

I'm saying not yet because that's what Molly Ringwald would have done.

    Twins Video

    1. 0-6 -- I like to keep things loose. I'm not the type of guy who likes to focus on the bad stuff and I am constantly in search of the good stuff. It's just the way I am... I don't like feeling bad... I like feeling good. I like people who are happy and that's the table I want to sit at. If the other tables are complaining about things. I'd rather sit somewhere else. So here is what I have to say about an 0-6 start. Nothing... I'm going to stay quiet and whistle past the graveyard. I actually don't know how to whistle and that is a little awkward because everybody seems to be able to whistle at the table I sit at. So in order to keep up... I bring an actual whistle to blow into and this does get the waiter/waitress to the cool kids table faster.

2 0-6 (Part 2) -- I didn't do any research on it but I'm willing to assume that nearly every team has gone through a 6 game losing streak at some point during a 162 game schedule since the beginning of time. We just got ours out of the way early. When the Twins go 100-56 the rest of the way. I was talking about this at the cool kids table and even the cool kids want me to sit somewhere else.

    3. What has gone wrong -- Well... It's all players that we were dying to see. Sano, Park, Buxton,Rosario and Dozier. The players who were supposed to lead us to the promised land can't make contact with the baseball. Those 5 have struck out 49 times in 6 games.

    4. Trucking -- When you go to Best Buy and purchase a new 98 foot television. This is possible because of truckers. Truckers are the backbone of America... they keep the economy moving and in order for you to buy that TV. Someone has to be willing to leave their family for extended periods of time... sleep in a small space in the back of the cab... shower when you can in a truck stop and walk out in the cold to get back to truck with your hair all wet... give up your home court advantage when using the bathroom... eat truck stop food... and I would imagine you spend a lot of time talking to yourself because of the solitude of mile after mile. I'm thinking about trucking because I got me a 16 foot Budget Truck and I'm driving that thing through Northern Michigan, Upper Michigan, Northern Wisconsin and Northern Minnesota today and tomorrow. I'm gonna stop at the truck stops along the way and share my story of the road with my trucking brethren and I'm sure that they will except me as one of their own. Hopefully.. they can give me some advice on how to get this 98 foot television into this 16 foot truck. I'm struggling with that right now.

    5. The White Sox win the World Series!!! -- And when this happens... the first thing that the White Sox fan will do is... Turn off the Play Station.

One last thing... North Dakota. National Champions in Hockey!!! Woo Hoo!!!

If the Twins keep this up, alcoholism in MN is going to spike through the roof!!!

Another silver lining to this mess of a team...and I listened to the whole game and kept hearing "but, it's the White Sox's and Twins are home" in my head    :banghead:

As well you should, RB . As well you should.

Actually I'm still kinda scoffing at myself.

I only divorced the Gophers in Hockey for obvious reasons.

Still cheer for BBall and FBall. Although that doesn't seem to do them any good.

I think it's the Gophers who have taught me my amazing patience.

I was gonna read through the entire thread but I'm resting in Escanaba and 28 pages is gonna take me until 3AM.

Someone just tell me who got post of the day.

Must have been a great game thread with some ugly stuff mixed in... considering the result.

    To my Twins,

Concentrate on the next 155 games.

Concentrate hard... And... And... Start tonight.

Remember, the Twins had a single crazy month last year or they would have drafted 1st or 2nd again. We've replaced Hunter in right with a 270-300 lb guy who doesn't want to be there. In our big move we replaced Sano as DH with 30 year old Korean. Oh, yeah, we put a very slick fielder in center, a fielder who in 2 years hasn't hit his weight...and he's skinny. Finally, we did absolutely nothing to improve a very bad bull pen.

I thought we'd be better. Why did I think that?

Haw!  It's Kismet!  I just re-watched the original series Kahn episode last night--  get 'em, Ricardo!  Maybe he can give the Twinkies a pep talk from beyond...

Is there really an afterlife, and if so why does He let us suffer watching this?

There is definitely some sort of afterlife. First, you see a bright light. Then, you end up near the top of Target Center. From there, I saw Him wearing a Tigers hat, and he had a big, thick mustache.

Although maybe that wasn't Him. Maybe I caught the last 10 minutes of an old episode of Magnum, P.I.

Anyway, I assume He wants us to repent for something. If I see Him again, I'll ask.

Do the rules allow a team to substitute a player from the bench to replace the batter? A "pinch hitter", if you will.

As a rule, yes. But we are in Twins Territory, where hitting for a veteran is highly frowned upon. It is deemed a lack of respect! :)

Well said. You can't win in baseball today staying status quo when the club was mediocre outside of one month. So much has been placed on the backs of prospects and those prospects seem overmatched and completely unable to deal with their disastrous starts. Sano swatting at flies or being frozen by a 90 mph cutter that splits the plate. Rosario swinging at anything within 5 feet of the plate. Buxton rarely even reaching base. If these guys don't pan out, this organization will be set back YEARS. Time for a new leader in the FO

He needs time to acclimate to this level of play! :)

'After sufficient acclimation, Kepler finally gets another plate appearance...'

Ok, ok, I know, that's totally ridiculous.

    Kepler bats left.

    God's response:

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."

Cheer up, everybody! God is on our side! This passage is clearly an allegory on the merits of bandwagon/fair-weather fans versus the ever faithful Twins fans.

I dunno, at the rate the Twins are going this year, we full time fans may be entering Cubs fan territory. The great thing about bandwagon jumping is the lack of angst when the season starts out poorly. Fairweather fans can hoard their strength until things turn around. Fairweather fans are probably less susceptible to heartburn and liver failure too.

Partially, in a way. Continuing to show up, buy tickets, food and merchandise clearly is not the message of a dissatisfied fan base. TR would have been gone years ago in a market that desires a winner. Same could have been said (and was said) for Gardy.

You can't boo if you don't buy a ticket and show up.  That was my whole point--assuming the Twins aren't interested in winning, and therefore wouldn't fire Molitor or Ryan due to poor record, a much more effective way of showing your displeasure with management is to not go to games, watch games on TV, or listen to them on radio.  In this scenario, where management cares only about money and not performance, booing means they've already won.
