Game Thread: Twins@Orioles 4/4 2:05P

Interesting opening day. Yay, the rains over, let's watch some baseball. Watch Tillman look unhittable and Santana look very hittable for two innings. Yay rain delay.

 

Kinda glad that Nolasco isn't our long reliever ... 

Actually- why not put Nolasco out there?  0-0 in the 3rd, it's basically a start, rest on the off-day.

according to my phone rain will stop in 60 minutes.  Of course 5 minutes ago it said 55 minutes so who knows.  Heavy for the first 45 of that.

Well, I might have been wrong. The fans aren't winning right now. 

 

There's nobody I trust more for my weather forecasts than Bert Blylevin. 

His prediction looks pretty close though

I get it's only two innings into the season but I hate all the strikeouts. We're not talking about a team that scores a high number of runs. There's certainly potential but it's mostly unproven. Strikeouts to me are like alcohol or deserts everything in moderation.

We're gonna have to get used to all these strikeouts.    The makeup of this team is such that they are gonna whiff, and whiff a lot.    That's just the nature of quite a few hitters in the Twins lineup this year.    They're gonna strike out a lot, and I think they're gonna hit a good number of taters and score quite a few runs, too.    We're gonna have to learn to take the bad with the good...

I'd rather use a starter then try to put 7 innings togther with the rest of the bullpen.  I imagine that's Baltimore's plan.

Exactly. That's why I call him every morning so he can tell me the forecast. He's light-years better than Chris Shaffer.... 

I can't stand Paul Molitor.  Sorry I'm not sure what it is about him but I dislike him more then I dislike Donald Trump.  I'll try to control myself but when it comes to dealing with umps and protecting his players he's awful.

I have to disagree here.  The phrase "why not put Nolasco out there" should only be used when one is referring to the waiver wire.

It worries me in part because the lineup doesn't have enough guys who can get on-base to even out the high strikeout totals.

I generally don't like how the strikeout is being dismissed for batters but rightfully so what most teams want from their pitching staffs.

We all remember that it takes a little bit more time for batters to adjust to pitching, right? 

Strikeouts suck no doubt, but this team will be fine, with the exception of Eddie, those high K guys should be able to get enough walks as well once they start working the count a little more.

 

Give me home runs and strike-outs over the station to station crap we had a couple years ago.

 

At the end of the day, all I care about is scoring more runs then the other team 87-92 times a regular season.

Working on the west coast for the first time......really hard to do the time translations in my head.

you could buy 4 clocks, and line them up on your desk. Be sure and label them. Otherwise if the cleaning lady gets them out of order, you could end up 4 hours late for a meeting someday!
