The plane, the plane.

If we presume just for a moment that foul play is involved, and if we also grant the players in such a foul play are smart, skilled, and have a plan, personally, I can imagine any number of scenarios where a plane could be stolen with out detection.

A question I have is how long would it take to program the computer to enact a complex set of maneuvers and changing trajectories. Could someone essential walk in with a code to be typed in exactly into the 777 and if follow a prearranged course to avoid detection? If someone could get into the cockpit and then enter in a flight plan by simple key stokes through following a pre-written script hidden in their carry-on, the whole hijack scenario seems far more probable.

Another scenario could involve the pilots resisting a hijacking, by say, taking the plane to super high altitudes and knocking everyone out and then out to the Indian Ocean to do no harm.

An innocent explanation seem to rely on too much serendipity and negligence that make it a rather unsatisfactory to me. Sure a fire could know everyone out, the transponders, all the extra safe electrical equipment, and the masks and safety protocols could have been compromised, but it still doesn't take into account the changes in altitude.

Time Warp.

The plane was sucked back in time to the late 70's/early 80's to an island full of couples living out outlandish fantasies and run by a man in a white suit who is accompanied by a much smaller man that spends his time yelling from a bell tower and ripping around the premises in a go-kart.

I'm going to have to agree with Leviathan on this one.:)

Seriously though, It's a great mystery and any theory is as good as the next one.

I do believe it is at the bottom of an ocean (Indian Ocean probably) and at some point some debris will wash upon some country's shore, someone will find it, report it, and at least one question will be answered.

Other than that, I do not believe we'll ever know what really happened.

I for one think it's rather disturbing that the cable news outlets are reporting on it almost as if they want it to be a hijacking.

Yeah ... unless they know something they aren't reporting, but it doesn't sound like it. There seems to be a pretty large suspicious net being thrown on the pilot. While I get they need to investigate everything, this aspect seems to be heightened in the reporting, and all I can think is his poor parents. But it sounds like we may know something sooner rather than later ... something has been spotted by Australian satellites ... weather permitting, maybe something will be discovered. (I'm being careful not to say it's debris, as this is what they suspect it might be, but who knows.)

If that whole flightpath-changed-earlier thing is true, this doesn't make sense, but I saw some article from a pilot who thought that it would most likely have been a fire on board and the pilot turned to try to get to the nearest or best airport. Then maybe the fire got out of control and it all hit the fan, er, ocean.
