Pat Dean (born May 25, 1989) was drafted in the 3rd Round of the 2010 draft out of Boston College. The left handed starter was signed for $319,500 by the Twins.

In 2010, Dean dominated the rookie ball circuit by posting a 2-2 record with a 2.15 ERA, striking out 37 batters and walking 1 batter in 29 1/3 innings between the GCL Twins and E-Twins. In 2010, Baseball America ranked Dean the 16th best prospect in the Appy League.

Dean started 2011 with the Snappers, where he posted a 2-0 record with a 2.86 ERA in 8 starts before being promoted to the Miracle. Dean struggled the rest of the way in Ft Myers posting a 3-6 record with a whopping 6.67 ERA in 11 starts, with opponents posting a .332 AVG against Dean. Dean made one token start at New Britain in 2011.

2012 will be a big year for Dean. The Twins assigned him to start the season in Ft. Myers with the Miracle. As a college pitcher, it is time to start moving up the ladder and put the dreadful finish to 2011 behind him.

To date, Dean has posted an 0-1 start with a 4.18 ERA in 4 starts with the Miracle, giving up 26 hits in 23.2 innings, walking 4 and striking out 13. Opponents are hitting .286 off of Dean.

In his last start on Sunday, Dean pitched 6 innings and surrendered 5 runs, all in the 5th inning, leaving the game while leading 7-5. Unfotunately, the bullpen coughed up the lead in a 9-8 loss to 1st place St. Lucie.

Pat Dean took to the hill for Miracle against the Palm Beach Cardinals on Wednesday night. While not figuring in the decision, Dean pitched his best game of the season. Dean surrendered 1 ER on 7 hits while striking out 3 and walking 2 in 7 impressive innings. The Miracle pulled out a 2-1 victory. Dean lowered his ERA to 3.68 on the year.

Pat Dean took to the mound today for the Miracle in an early game against the Lakeland Flying Tigers. Dean picked up his first win of the season in a 12-3 Ft. Myers victory. After surrendering 2 unearned runs in the first, Dean settled down to go 5 2/3 innings, being pulled after giving up 2 hits in the 6th inning. Bruce Pugh came in and struck out the final batter in the 6th to close the line on Dean. His line looked like this: 5 2/3 INN 1ER 7H. 2BB. 2K

Dean improved his record to 1-2 and lowered his ERA to 3.40 in 7 starts for the Miracle. Dean has been impressive in his last two starts, surrendering just 2ER over his last two starts (12 2/3 INN).

For Ft. Myers, the dormant bats have started to awaken with 25 runs over the past two games. DH Anderson Hidalgo led the Miracle attack with a 2B, HR(GS) and 6 RBI.

Pat Dean improved his record to 2-2 on the year as the Ft. Myers Miracle defeated the Charlotte Stone Crabs 3-1 on Saturday night. Dean lasted the minimum of 5 innings only surrendering one ER, but gave up 8 hits and 1 walk. While Dean won his second straight start, he gave up a lot of runners in those two starts. Dean did lower his ERA to 3.23 on the year. Dean was helped out by a 5-2-3 double play with the bases loaded and Oswaldo Arcia cutting a runner down at the plate.

Dean is now 2-0 in his last three starts, giving up 3ER in 17 2/3 innings. Hopefully he can keep the progress going.

The Miracle plated 2 runs in the top of the first on a 2-run double by Daniel Rohlfing. Kyle Waldrop pitched a scoreless inning in the game and Ricky Bowen picked up his second save.

Pat Dean is officially on a roll. He picked up his third win in his last four starts by winning a 2-1 pitching duel vs Brevard County. Dean's line was impressive. He gave up 1ER in 8 IP, walking 1 and striking out 8. Dean raised his record to 3-2 and lowered his ERA to 2.93 in the process. Dean has given only 1ER in each of his last four starts. Ricky Bowen picked up his third save. Oswaldo Arcia hit a 2-run HR to provide all of the offense that Dean needed on this night. Dean is beginning to look like he may get a callup in the next round of moves.

Dean toes the rubber for the Miracle on Wednesday night against the Clearwater Threshers. Dean continued his good hurling by pitching three innings, giving up two hits and striking out one. Unfortunately a rain delay ended Deans night.

However, over his last 28 2/3 innings' Dean has surrendered only 4 ER and lowered his ERA to 2.78 on the year.

I believe Dean will be moving up to New Britain at the midway point of the season.

Pat Dean, pitching on short rest continued his mastery of the FSL. Dean threw 5 solid innings giving up 1 ER again and 3 hits. Dean was the winning pitcher in a 4-1 victory. Dean raised his record to 4-2 with a 2.70 ERA. In the last 33 2/3 innings, Dean has given up only 5 earned runs.

With Manship being called up, that should set up some starters moving up and Dean should be headed to NBR soon

Bromberg has been called up to AAA, so I would think that Dean would be the corresponding callup. Dean has spent over a year at High A, so I think it's time to see what he has

After posting a great May, Dean's first start in June was a stinker. On Saturday, Dean gave up 6 ER and 13 hits in 6 inn, taking the loss in a Miracle 10-5 loss to Daytona. Dean's record now stands at 4-3 on the year with a 3.25 ERA

As hot as Dean was in May, June has been disappointing. Dean took the loss Thursday by giving up 5 ER and 7 hits in 5.3 innings, Dean dropped to 4-4 with a 3.43 ERA. Dean needs to steady itself to get his AA promotion.

Pat Dean picked up the win last night again St. Lucie thanks to his offense. Dean pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 5 ER and 9 hits to raise his record to 5-4 with an ERA of 3.74. Dean's last couple of outings have been less than stellar, although I expect a promotion sometime during the year.

Finally beating the rain, Pat Dean took to the hill trying to stop a mini skid, which he did. Dean (6-4) pitched 6 solid innings giving up 1ER and 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out two batters in a 6-2victory over the Tampa Yankees. Dean lowered his ERA to 3.59 for the season.

After starting off the season well, Pat Dean is spinning his wheels He stands at 6-6 with a 3.89 record. He doesn't miss bats though. With 120.1 innings pitched, he has given up 138 hits and walked 24 while striking out only 60. He has been a workhorse, but at 23, he may be falling out of prospect range.
