Not a done deal yet. From here:

The Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization have shown interest in Twins lefty Andrew Albers, but the two sides have yet to come to an agreement, MLBTR has learned. While a deal is possible, it's a ways off, if it comes to fruition at all.

 

I think it will be great if it works out, same with the failed Colabello deal.

The Twins and Hanshin need to work out a deal for it to happen, but I would be shocked if it didn't happen. We know where Albers sits on the probably Starting Pitching depth chart. It would open up a 40 man spot. It's not going to take a ton of money from Hanshin to let Albers go make about a $1 million there. Good move for all involved.

 

When they signed him out of the Can-Am League, they could never have imagined how much they would be able to get out of and now probably get for him!

Is this move of a soft-tossing lefty who occupies a spot on the 40-man linked to the acquisition of another (presumably) soft-tossing lefty that you hinted at in another thread?

And sounds like Albers would get somewhat more than the ML minimum (even if he made the team) so financially a win-win for him and the Twins ... especially if he felt like his chances of making the big league club were minimal.

I'll take a staff with talent over one with balance any day.

 

I'm sure the Tigers wish they had more lefties....

 

Mr. Albers had his 15 minutes of fame, if he was realistically part of the plan in 2014, the Twins were in deeper than any of us could have imagined.

First, I don't know anything about Johan (I assume that's who you mean) and his plan, but...

 

Second, I can't imagine him getting more than a minor league contract, so that wouldn't require a 40 man move.

There is no reason to move Gilmartin to the 40-man unless he makes the 25-man roster, a real long shot to start the season.

 

That 40 man spot is Kubel's unless additional moves are made.

 

Surely there's no hurry here to fill the spot from within? And surely, there are more (and better), "additional moves" to the roster coming between now and opening day? The Twins wouldn't go into the season with fewer offensive weaponry tools than last year- a year which produced one of the highest K-rates of all-time and the lowest Twins run total since 1968 (The "Year of the Pitcher")? Surely, they still covet acquiring an additional FA major league arm?

I think they are probably just signing Justin Turner, a bench bat, and a minor move.

He did have a very small chance of making the roster. I was hoping to see more of him in AAA and the majors if injuries made it necessary. I suppose this is because he was a bright spot on an otherwise dim season.
