PSA: Buy a Metrodome seat for $60

The Metrodome's final sporting event will take place on Sunday afternoon and the demolition crews will move in and start the interior dismantle shortly thereafter.

 

While elements like the baggy and dirt from the mound were auctioned off a few weeks accord, the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority recently took bids from contractors to remove the seats. The winner -- Albrecht Signs -- will dismantle the iconic blue seats and make them available for purchase, reports MPR's Tim Nelson:

 

Prices are up in the air right now. Individual seats will could run $60 each, and specific seats may require an extra $20 to fulfill the request. Manning says non-profits and other groups may get them for a $40 each. Hathaway, the MSFA spokeswoman, said her agency hasn’t agreed on final prices yet and the contract hasn’t actually been drawn up yet.

 

Of course, there may be an incentive for those who will attend the Vikings game this Sunday to eschew the fees by simply taking a seat after the final whistle blows, however, the team has beefed up security to ensure there is not a repeat of the Met Stadium's 1981 near-riot final game.

 

$60 is not a bad price to pay. Heck, that's like one day of pay while substitute teaching for Twins' prospect Alex Meyer.

Start a separate thread about this and we can all add bogus rumors about how the talks are going. There could even be a few grumbles that somebody else's wife is willing to let you have 2 seats. That will put the pressure on your wife to give in to the 3rd with an option for a 4th seat to keep you around another few years.

That might help Brock in his negotiations with his wife. At that price I'd buy a few and replace the bench on the front patio with them.

Sadly, it looks like they won't ship them. It'll be hard enough to convince my wife that we NEED a metrodome seat (or two). It'll be downright impossible once I add that we'll need to drive four hours to acquire it.
