Article: A Look at the Other End of Free Agency

Recommended Posts

Jeff Neimann is expected to be non-tendered by the Rays. He made $3 million in arbitration and was injured all year, and made only 8 starts the year before. He's in a situation much like Colby Lewis...except he's 3 years younger and has a lot less injury history. He might not be ready by opening day, but the Twins could use that as final opportunity for Worley, etc. He seems like a good guy to take a chance on.

I know nothing about his injury but yeah, he'd certainly be a guy to take a flier on.

I know gambling isn't this team's favorite activity, but if they were going to stay away from higher priced free agents, I'd rather they roll the dice on multiple guys like this than another no-upside, no-strikeout fifth starter like they usually go after. Take a chance on some of these players, please pass on the Jake Westbrooks, Joe Saunders, Paul Maholms, Mike Pelfreys and even Bronson Arroyos.
