Game 9 - Twins vs Rangers - 4/15/12

In a way I'm glad the Yankees are coming up. A good showing in the Bronx might inspire some confidence in this team, which is I think what they need more than anything. It's an opportunity for them to show that this year can be different.

It seems like they're in a situation where they feel like they need to play flawless baseball in order to win and thus are playing like a team afraid to make mistakes and trying to make too many perfect plays.

Of course, I'm afraid it will more likely be the same 'ol story, same 'ol song and dance in New York. But if they did manage to take the series, it would give me a different feeling about the rest of the year.

Today we see the opposite side of the silliness of pitcher wins as a stat. Earlier, Gray showed getting a win is silly. Today, we saw that not getting a win is silly. Hendriks did his job so well that if you got that kind of pitching every game you'd easily win 100 games a year, yet he doesn't get a win. Silly stat. As for the Twins, 70-75 games....that's it. And I fully expect Span to be traded at some point this year, in a huge blunder.

Will Mauer have the dignity to restructure his contract for 13 million/year, which is still more than he's worth. And use that 10 million to get some pitching. If I were him, I'd be embarrassed.

And if I made the post above, I'd be embarrassed.
