I'd say the pitcher, Taylor Rogers, is the superstar so far tonight from what I've seen

Glad you got to take in the game after all, Chitown.

That was a rough top of the 10th for Zach Jones. Miracle need two runs to keep their season alive...

Man ... it was a stellarly pitched game up to that point; and the crowd got instantly hostile. Oy. I kept thinking that the minor league crowd was such a different baseball crowd, like parents watching their kids play. And yes, then became 'little league ugly' parents. I really was quite amazed. Anyway ...

Top of the 10th ... 1st batter got a single, then stole 2nd; and, imo, AJ Petterson should have gotten him on that. The throw was perfect but the runner kind of didn't slide, sort of, and AJ missed the tag on him. As I said the throw was there, AJ was there, he shouldn't have missed the tag. Then the 2nd batter walked. Then there was a sac bunt, moving the runners to 2nd and 3rd; 1 out now. During the intentional walk of the next batter, the pitcher threw a wild pitch ... just threw a bit too wide and high and hard ... and a run scored. And he almost did it a 2nd time, too, but the batter took his base without more runs being scored. Runners at the corners, 1 out. Next batter pops it up on a bunt attempt. 2 outs. Next batter walks; bases loaded, 2 outs. Next wild pitch, 2nd run scores, and runners move over. 3rd out was a strike out. Feel bad for the guy, but whatever, his fault. But man, he throws hard ... mid-90s.

But, have to also mention, both Vargas and Buxton had opportunities to be heroes, with runners in scoring position, and didn't get the job done. Had either gotten timely hits, the 10th would never have happened. Such is life.

Then in the bottom of the 10th, umps blew a call. If ever there was a balk ... everyone saw it, I saw it ... it was the most obvious balk I have ever witnessed. Mientkiewicz appealed to all four umps. Was a plain out very bad missed call. The Miracle got 1 run back in the bottom, but alas, it ended with a great catch in deep center.

It's amazing how often the wild pitch on an intentional walk happens in the minors.

Several years ago there was a pitcher in the Twins organization who caught the jitters and could no longer find the zip code of the the home plate area. He threw a 'walk off' wild pitch on an intentional walk, and literally never threw another pitch of pro ball again. Someone help me out with his name?

Could be an important experience for Buxton. He'll go to Arizona with a bad taste in his mouth (hopefully) knowing that in professional ball the money is paid for the money moments. When you are at bat late in a scoreless game and a runner in scoring position that's the definition of a money moment. He didn't come through tonight. The great ones are defined because they produce more often in these moments than the just real good players.

You're possibly talking about Shooter Hunt? Here's a fairly recent writeup.

No, it wasn't that recent.

It was Lance Odom. I was right that he was once in the Twins system, but no longer was at the time he caught the jitters. He was in the Twins system from 99 to 2000, never got higher than Low A ball.

He then bounced around the Independent league for a few years, before this happened, it was literally his last pitch as a pro:
