90 losses a certainty

Looking at the Twins remaining schedule, they have 18 of the final 28 games against potential playoff teams. I don't see any way they go over .500 and avoid another 90 loss season. In fact, they will be hard pressed to be outside of the top 3 draft choices. Houston and Miami are pretty much going to be the top 2, but I could easily see the Cubs and Sox passing the Twins.

It isn't just that these are playoff teams, but a majority will be fighting for a wild-card. Detroit will have it wrapped up like a freshman at college, but the Rays, A's, Indians will be going all out.

The question that I'm left asking is which members of management or the coaching staff are going to be cut. I know we've beaten the Gardy/Andy/Ryan horse to death, but outside of them there has already been a lot of turnover. I will be interested to see if ownership steps in and actually pays some attention to what is going on or if Ryan is allowed to bungle another offseason.

I'm not as sure that the Twins will lose 90. The Sox are playing their best baseball since they traded Peavey and Rios. Sometimes it doesn't make sense, but the Twins right now seem to be playing the Rangers and Tigers better than the Royals and White Sox. The Twins only need to finish 14-13 to avoid 90 for the third straight year. Probably won't do it, but baseball remains unpredictable in short stretches.
