"These are the faces of the 2015 Minnesota Twins and the next great baseball dynasty. After three years of bottom dwelling, minor league guru and current General Manager, Terry Ryan, has turned this farm system – and by extension, this organization – around. So while this year’s Major League club may find themselves in last place yet again, there;s a storm brewing underneath."

Huh? Eric Davis did make the majors it turns out.

Prospects often work out, but even more often they don’t, just ask Eric Hosmer, or Mike Moustakas, or Jayson Heyward, or even Eric Davis, a former top prospect who never made the majors, a man current prospect Byron Buxton was once compared to.

Sorry, any credibility that the author of this article might have generated with its Twins farm analysis, is sadly drawn into question with the above closing paragraph. And I really like and concur with portions of that potential lineup- I want to believe- although they are better served at going big in the international market and signing FA pitchers- and Glen Perkins is locked up as the closer to at least 2016, not Trevor May. And when's the last time Hendriks demonstrated a penchant for being a consistent "innings-eater"?

All 3 of the active players named in the last paragraph are 24 or 23 years of age, not prospect busts, but in fact, established veterans at a young age, and despite all having had one- or two-season hiccups in their recent careerpaths, still have excellent chances to reach very high ceilings as they hit their prime years going into their late 20s.

And Eric Davis? The 18-year major leaguer who "never made the majors", 7 years in which he had WARs of 3.1 or better? Even a "writer from New Jersey" can't blame that epic gaffe on a random typo.

An author pretty much loses any credibility when he puts 8 1st or 2nd year players in a starting lineup. He further loses credibility when he thinks that will be the best team in 2015.

I'm hoping that a few prospects are lotto hits and are establishing themselves as above average MLB'ers in 2015. I also think 2015 is when we start getting excited about the Twins again.

Parade starts in 2015, but more likely it will be 2016 - 2017 when the Twins break through, and that will only happen if the starting pitching dramatically improves.

yeah this... I think you'll see more of a 2001 style season in 2015. Lots of reason for hope, but they will likely be staying home.

Very perceptive article. Nice to see Terry Ryan and the rest of the Twins organization receive credit for what many national experts view as a quick turnaround. Best guess is the parade starts in 2015.

Are you including this author as one of your "national experts"? If true, it explains a lot about where you're coming from with your continued meme on this subject and refusal to acknowledge the local writers might have much more expertise on both the subject matter and the sources they deal with daily.

And exactly what are you implying with your "parade" allusion? Are you really expecting a "Tournament of Roses" leading directly to the Winners Circle in October? That seems a tad optimistic for a lineup and Stating Rotation composed primarily of rookies and 2nd year players.....yes, just a tad optimistic,......just like the article itself.

You've got the author of the article responding one above yours; no need to go through another poster as an intermediary. If Jason's still checking back, maybe a useful dialogue will arise if you try.

The story you linked says best team in 2016 not 2015.

Ya, it does. I had realized shortly before posting that 2016 was a better date because of how young these guys are, but I couldn't change the batting lineup graphic from 2015 to 2016. In the end, I posted it as 2015 but after some feedback, i agreed it should be 2016.

For the record, Ironically, I am not a Twins Fan, just a baseball writer.

No intermediary usage here on my part. This is specifically addressed to the poster in question, who in this instance, saw fit to repeating his meme here with the apparent further ammunition from this article, about some "consensus opinion"; an opinion that he still hasn't been able or willing to document, despite repeated requests for verification concerning his claim of how the Twins are exultantly regarded by "national experts".

Let's try to chill here -- this should be a fun thread and the nit picking is detracting.

Agreed. Yes there are debatable claims- Berrios hitting 98 and no 3rd pitch (thought he threw a change-up and a decent one), May with a lights out curve and moved to closer, Harrison at 1st (rather see Vargas, D. Hicks or even Mauer there (Pinto @ C), Albers as a top prospect and Hendriks as a "innings eater" (is there a Australian food dish called "innings" I never heard about?) ;-).

In general though the article was a little ray of sunshine in the late August/ September doldrums of Twins baseball the last 3 tough years
