First off, I don't think Sano's trot merits a benching, most great athletes carry a bit of swag and it didn't even look that bad to me. Second, I think the twins could get a good prospect, maybe 2, from the Yankees for Plouffe and Romero is playing well enough to be a stop gap until Sano is ready.

Good to see Arcia seems to be finding his swing again.

 

Did anybody else notice that the Twins official prospect list now includes 11 pitchers in their top 20? And that doesn't include a lot of guys in their top three levels that are doing very well. A wave of good pitchers is slowly approaching. Let's hope it's a tsunami.

Phils not Phillies Changed their nickname from Reading Phillies to Reading Fighting Phils this off-season. And an ostrich as their maskot. Crazy things.

 

I am going to the game tonight so Sano better be there Regardless, Baxendale is pitching so that would be a treat. Will have a write up after the game; also will try to gauge the situation in the Rock Cats' dugout...

 

At this point Jeff Smith is cutting his nose to spite his face. 8 Ls in a row, survey says that Smith will go the Nieto way, if the Rock Cats do not improve this season...

I'd like to see what the Yanks would give us for Plouffe and let Romero see what he can do at this level. I like Bernier as the Jamey Carroll replacement although Escobar will probably be that going forward. Also hoping that Albers can get a chance if the Twins move a pitcher.

I was also looking at going to the game this evening, but saw the forecast isn't looking too great. Here's to hoping the thunderstorms go away and Sano returns and makes some thunder of his own.

Romero is not a big league player. His defense is horrible and his bat isn't all that great (.776OPS). I backed him earlier in favor when Dozier was struggling, but I was wrong then. If we're giving Plouffe away for the sole purpose of letting Romero play, that's foolish. Plouffe has displayed enough versatility to be moved around the field (mind Sano). The asking price for Plouffe has to be a top 150 prospect and pieces. He hasn't hit arbitration yet and he's only had 1,000PAs in his career. I think he can still improve as a player and be a .800OPS, 25 HR, ,.260 BA player. Plus, we need right handed hitters. You can't just trade away all your assets this year and expect to be good in the next two.

Who are comparable former or current pitchers to Albers. I have heard the Jimmy Key and Jamie Moyer comparables as ceilings, any others?

Romero doesn't have to be a big-league player. He can stop-gap the rest of the year, and the Twins can find someone on a one-year contract next year. Unless you're going to do a straight platoon with Plouffe somewhere (not happening under brilliant Gardy), he's more of a detriment than anything. Perhaps next year is his year, but really nothing in his development says he'll ever hit well enough up here. Yeah, he teased us in AAA, but AAA pitchers are there mostly because they can't hack the majors. Very few Gibsons for very long. Good pitchers don't spend much, if any, time in AAA.

Plouffe's defense isn't great either (its kind of bad) and they shouldn't give him away but if they could get something of value he's certainly replaceable
