Gardy said on his post gamer that Parm and Arcia needs swings and Escobar needs to play since he isnt here.

That is BS of an excuse. He can go out and say that they suck, because they do, and they need to get their act together.

He can play them every day at LF and RF, with Thomas on the bench and Doumit as the DH. But not that "they need at bats".

Well deserved for Bernier btw and I think that the Twins fans will like what they see. Hard nosed player in the Punto mold who would be fine coming off the bench.

Gardy said Escobar needs games and the others need swings because they aren't swinging well. I prefer he would say it that way than the way you suggested. They deserve better treatment from a manager.

maybe he did in private?

then if Gardy does say they suck in public, he will get accused of throwing players under the bus or not sticking up for them.

I dunno, Im not overly worked up about this. Send them to Rochester, let them get into a good groove again, call them back up.

Service time on the demoted players: Escobar needs 22 days in the minors to be under team control for a seventh year. Parmelee had 132 days going in '13, it would take about a month for him to lose Super2 status and Arcia will be under team control for a seventh year. Again, he will need about a month in Rochester to avoid Super2.

suck is too much for public. Agreed. He could say that "they need to work out the kinks" or something like that, other than offering a phony excuse (they need swings - that's up to him to give them those.) That's my issue here. Lies. I think that going to Rochester will be better for them in the long run.

The only funkiness in this is that it leaves the Twins with only 2 real OFs: Hicks and Thomas. So LF will be a rotation of Thomas and Herrmann and RF of Doumit and Colabello.

I like Escobar going down. He is still a developing player that can be a part of their long term future. He needs to play everyday. Its time for Colabello to get an extended look to see what he can do. I hope Albers gets a shot as we need to figure out if any of the AAAA pitchers are worth keeping. Glad to see some movement as there should be no way we stand pat playing this way.

Herrmann has played plenty of OF, I'm not concerned about that.

Disappointed in Parmelee. Has never really gotten untracked, this was a golden opportunity.

Herrmann is pretty capable in the outfield. With three catchers, they can put Doumit in right and replace him late in games. Colabello has played the OF less than either Doumit or Herrmann, so I guess we'll see him as DH quite a bit.

I hope to see Parm and Arcia back in Minnesota before the month is over.

Yes and a blown chance that may eliminate moving Morny if anybody was interested

I have no issue with sending any of those three down. Arcia has been a mess at the plate the last few weeks. He's still developing. Parmelee is the most disappointing of the three. We know he can hit, and the Twins gave him every opportunity to stay in the lineup. I haven't given up on him and still think he can be a really good big league hitter.

I don't really think so. They have plenty of players that can play 1B. Plus, we're waaaay out of contention at this point. I don't think it matters.

Not a fan of sending Arcia down, but maybe does need some work. Parm i felt never got te chace to get untracked.

Maybe? He's lost right now... Not sure a couple of days off will even help. He needs to go down and relax. He'll be back and long-term, he'll be fine.

Good move now. They need to get untracked. This move might be more difficult at the end of the month if Morneau and Doumit are gone.

That could make getting Colabello and Herrmann more MLB experience even more important, though.

Unless something changes, Colabello and Herrmann profile as role players. Herrmann hasn't gotten it done at Rochester and in very limited at-bats in Minnesota, Colabello hasn't hit. Sure, Colabello needs an audition after his raking in AAA, but I don't think it will be as extensive as a young player like Parmelee or Arcia will get. It would be great if Colabello starts hitting like he has in Triple A, but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't get it. Bernier has no MLB future. Herrmann has hit .217 with a .650 OPS since being sent down. I like seeing Colabello get a chance but not at the expense of Parmelee.

Already on a 3-12 skid, the Twins are taking away reasons to watch. Not good.

Spot on.

My immediate thought on seeing the headline of the pending roster change was, "Good News..... they saw what I saw on Arcia and they did a well-needed, send a message, shake-up with a couple of other slumping bats, so now Colabello, Pinto and one of Beresford/Robinson/Richardson are getting their long-awaited and well-deserved promotions."

And then the actual replacement news??? This is a definite 2/3rds headscratcher.

Arcia will need to learn to adjust to MLB pitching at some point, and he can't do that in AAA. If this is mental thing, then I guess it makes more sense. The team certainly knows that better than I would. Arcia doesn't seem to be lacking confidence though.

Personally, I'd rather watch him struggle and hopefully adjust now, when the season is lost or later this year if nothing else. I hope he doesn't have to wait until 2014 because I would hope the Twins would be trying harder to win by then.

I assume he will be back by September, so I'm not too upset. Parmelee on the other hand, I just don't get.

I don't disagree with you, but they had to try something. It is starting to feel like audition time in September. I'm hoping they pick up someone we can watch in the Perkins trade.

Who cares if it gives us no reason to watch, the twins need to be doing what's best long term for guys like Arcia and Parm. Having Arcia up here flailing away does nothing, send him to AAA for a bit, work on some things and bring him back in a few weeks.

A lot easier/less stressful to make adjustments in the minors then the majors....
