Article: Twins Minor League Report (7/6): Lots of Free Baseball

Recommended Posts

I was/am a huge naysayer of the AAA line up/roster at the start of the year. I thought the team looked terrible. It took MVP type numbers from Colabello and Bernier is having his best season since joining the INT league as well as an influx of new pitchers to get to .500. But for me the guy who must get a lot of the credit is the manager Gene Glynn. He is able to keep this roster of players interested in motivated.

Was the nature of Baxendale's injury reported?

"...if you squint hard enough you can see a Nick Punto/Brian Dozier love-child in there..."

Indeed, that's one messy love-child. Question is, why did the Twins spend a first-round draft pick on a guy that projects as maybe another Nick Punto? Wasn't Levi Michael supposed to be a little more of a love-child mix of Punto and Dustin Pedroia?

As for the love-child thing...maybe these guys should all just agree to be friends.

I won't touch the love-child thing...Levi was a low (30) first round pick. He was 20 years old when he was drafted out of UNC...I am sure somebody in the Twins org. thought he had Pedroia potential even though it is not apparent now...that is the thing with drafting kids...it is not a science.

My adopt a prospect Stephen Gonsalves turns 19 tomorrow (7/8). Most experts I read project him to be a mid-rotation southpaw--think Diamond. Obviously someone in Twins org thought he could be better...who is right...wait 2 or 3 years.
