Gotta Listen on Perkins?

It is the same reason relievers don't get great return at the trade deadline. Every struggling team has a set up man to trade. Look at the trades for Ziegler, Mujica, Broxton and Delabar.

Ziegler, Adams, Uhera, and Broxton all fetched good packages. Delabar was a buy-low move.

My suggestion is if you feel the offseason is better: suggest some recent examples. At a glance I found none.

I believe my comment was that the return is never very good. The supply is also high in the summer.

Many trades in the winter in the transaction database. Marginal returns unless you are a Mike Adams(summer) or Sean Marshall(winter). Some guys have moved in multiple winters like Melancon and Badenhop.

I don't think Marshall was a good package - it just ended up well. In any case, my point was that the summer deadline is better than the winter, whereas you contended the other way.

From what I have seen, few guys even move in the winter and those that do are not fetching much value. The deals that are fetching value are happening at the deadline. That speaks to my point that, if the Twins are going to shop Perkins, this is the time to do it. Not during the offseason.

I think you could make a similar claim with the Uehara trade.

Sure, but that was a wise move. They got immediate help and a high-talent flyer.

Those kinds of deals happen at the deadline for relievers, not in the offseason. Forest, not trees.
