Prospect Max Kepler heading to Cedar Rapids

Recommended Posts

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Max Kepler tweeted today that he is finally leaving the extended spring training and heading to join the Cedar Rapids Kernals.

The 20-year-old German-born Kepler had a fantastic season at Elizabethton as a 19-year-old last year, hitting .297/.387/.539 with 10 home runs in addition to 16 doubles and a manageable 27-to-33 walks-to-strikeouts ratio. He was also successful in swiping seven bases in seven attempts.

Kepler was in Ft Myers nursing an elbow injury back to health.

As of a half-hour ago, Buxton has NOT been promoted. that said, it's no surprise. They aren't even back from Dayton yet. I would expect/assume that once they get home, Jake will get a chance to talk to him (and/or others).

As was pointed out in other forums, Kepler has played CF in Extended Spring Training games the last couple of days. Indicates that his elbow is at least "good enough." I guess we'll see.
