Against a lefty, this is going to be interesting to see who is in the lineup. Herrmann doesn't have much of a split difference over the past two seasons, whereas Thomas really did in 2012. And the other options in RF are Arcia, Parmelee, and Doumit.

I would prefer Willingham-Herrmann-Parmelee, with Doumit DHing (and letting Arcia rest one game). But I bet it is Willingham-Thomas-Doumit with Arcia DHing.

Thomas needs to be on a very short leash. If he keeps hitting like he has been known to, than I want to see Hermann and Arcia get all of his at bats. I know Thomas is our "only" CF but he still needs to hit the ball or it won't matter that he is a good average CF. also he is not a prospect and does not need checked out.

I agree and honestly, who cares about Clete Thomas going forward? If Chris Herrmann is an adequate and ultimately 3rd CF, that is a nice advance for Herrmann in his career as then a C and a utility outfielder.

I gotta do some coaching tonight so I'll be Glorm like and join the game thread late... I just want to say... Worley has been a disappointment and May is struggling with his control but I still make that trade out of necessity.

As for Revere... He hasn't hit that well this year but I still miss watching him play. I will be secretly hoping he puts on a show of some sort in the next 3 games... Hopefully all the other Phillies tank so I'm comfortable hoping good things for Ben.

In 2008 and 2013

RF: Kubel >> Doumit

CF: Cuddyer

LF: DYoung > Arcia

Toss up.

If you're giving >> to Kubel over Doumit, then you have to also say:

Thomas >>>>>> Cuddyer

Cuddy was a pretty bad right fielder whose only good attribute was his arm. He was an absolutely atrocious center fielder, the most important position in the outfield. Cuddyer's career dWAR is -13, most of it as a corner outfielder. That's horrendous.

Also, Delmon's career dWAR is nearly -9 and he's not even close to 30. I'll take Arcia any day.

First thing you notice about the Twins OF is the wide shot at the start of the game...they're all playing with their ass against the fence.

I'd really like the Twins to start playing their OFers shallower in most situations. I realize that's not likely to happen, since they've been doing that throughout the Gardy era, but I can wish.

As to who's playing the corners, unless they're absolutely terrible, it just doesn't matter that much.

I was at the Sunday evening game agains the Nats -- get Herrman in the lineup as much as possible. He looked like the only one out there who was fired up and wanted to play ball.

Small ball. Good job Joe, get that runner in scoring position.

I know that's what I look for in a 23M per year player.

I look for him to make whatever play his coach asks him to make based on the field situation. Although it's unlikely Gardy put the sign on there anyway.

I agree...it's unlikely Gardy gave him the sign for "top one softly up the first base line."

Well, you'd be just as annoyed if Mauer had bunted him over thought, right?

More so.

I'm somewhat flabbergasted by the idea that moving one runner up one base at the expense of an out, in the bottom of the first, is a good thing in any way shape or form.
