Kyle Gibson's Innings Limit

Seth Stohs

The number of innings for Gibby really isn't important because the Twins won't be a playoff contender this year. What is important is that he has success when he finally gets his feet wet. The Twins would be wise to keep him at AAA until he finds consistency. I know he throws relatively hard but he's not Deduno. Gibson will need to be able to consistently locate his fastball to have success in the show. Once he get's his mechanics figured out he has a real good chance to be an above average MLB starter.

It's not realistic to expect "consistency" from a prospect.

Baseball is a tough game, young players, almost by definition, are never going to be "consistent", even the really good ones.

If every GM demanded true "consistency" from every player, you wouldn't be able to find 25 guys to fill out a single roster, let alone 30 rosters.

I believe that Ive heard Ryan say it in multiple 1500ESPN interviews.

What is the supposed date for Gibson & the Super 2 breakoff??

There is not a firm date, since the exact numbers are not calculated until after the season. But a safe time frame to avoid super 2 would be right around the 2nd week in June.

Gibson has 60 innings in Rochester. 100 in Minnesota, or only 70? As noted above, another stellar outing.

Yep, so now we're down to about 7 big league starts. Still in search of that elusive consistency.
