Jason Parks on Eddie Rosario

Recommended Posts

In Parks' recent BP chat he expressed exactly how I feel about Eddie Rosario:

Travis (Minnesota): Eddie Rosario a solid MLB 2nd basemen in a few years?

Jason Parks: Yes. He can do what major leaguers do: hit. I say this a lot and I'm going to keep saying it until they run my out of this position at BP: Do you know what good hitters do? They f*cking hit. Rosario can hit. It's the most important carrying tool, and he possesses it. Discount him for other reasons, be it his power ceiling or defensive skill-set, but he can put his bat on a baseball, and that's the game.

Yeah, I saw that, too. Nice to see. We have so many stud prospects that a few of them might be flying under the radar.

I like to look at it as even with the law of probability coming into play and some of these guys busting, we have too much elite talent not to get several studs from this group of specs.

Yeah, I looked at all BA ranked Twins prospects in the Ryan era (1996 - ) and, while I don't remember the complete numbers it was a pretty high return to being solid regular or better and only a few (2 in 10) washed out completely.

I think that Eddie will be on a top 100 list pretty soon. You don't see 20/20 second basemen with 900 OPS every day. Before this season he played a grand total of 71 games at second. This season, his fielding percentage is .985, which means that he does not boot the ball. Give him another year and he will be ready. Has to be added to the 40-man this off-season to be protected, so very likely to be with the Twins September of 2014 (ironically probably before the 2 "top" prospects who do not need to be added to the 40-man for 2014)

This is for a couple of reasons. Twins are patient and allow proper development. They don't get "cheap" high ranked prospects via age/level inflation (who bust at a higher rate). They don't overly hype their own guys.

Their top ranked prospects are generally legit.
