My coach needed an assistant to keep an eye on players. I'd guess all but 2-3 of the JV golfers are far better than me. We have a +3 and a +1 on the team (brothers), so a decent chance at state this year. Plus, I miss volunteering, and I get free lessons for a bit and a nice rain jacket.

Jeeze. I can only dream about being that good at golf… That’s awesome, congrats! I volunteered with Wayzata Youth Hockey teaching 6-10 year old kids how to play goalie. Incredibly fulfilling!

Looks like Alcala fot nabbed for taking too long. I really think Alcala needs to show he's got his good stuff before he's gifted a spot in the bullpen.

He’s certainly testing the limits of the pitch clock today.

Yesterday after he bombed 7 straight great drives, I joked I knew not who to play against. He said he'd give me 20 strokes, and I said he'd only have to give me 19, and he just whispered "19" to himself.....though I looked and I guess I'm a 15 right now, so only 18.

I should be a 13-14, but you can't count your rounds so far this calendar year. Hoping to get to around a 10 by the end of the year. But, dropping from 12 is tough....

What's the handicap season out there?

When you get to my age, you hope to maintain the handicap you have. The lowest I got was 13.

A (Kyle) Farmer and (Andrew) Painter walk into a bar… Not sure what the punch line of that joke could be. @USAFChief

Try this:

"Farmer sacrifices into double play, left to second."

That's hilarious, and I'd like to take credit, but TBH I copied and pasted from game day.

IIRC it might start this month? But, man, it is COLD out there.....Yup, starts today.

I'm one of those fools that loves a crisp early spring morning where as long as they'll let me out I'm going to play.  Layer up and walk on a nice sunny morning with little to no breeze with the course to yourself is a perfect way to spend a morning in my mind.  I've played many a round at 33 or 34 degrees and love every second of it.

I'm fortunate to live literally 3 minutes from a course.  I know that if I don't have frost that they likely don't have frost so I'll load up the clubs and head over and get out before the tee sheet even starts.

I'm 58.......My lowest was around 10.

My FIL is 69 and plays to a 4 or 5.  I'm 42 and have a difficult time maintaining my 13-15 handicap.  He's able to play all of the time, I can't play nearly as much as I'd like.

We had practice yesterday, flurries and drizzle, around 38 degrees, but I'm just a coach standing around on a range....I wore ski pants and boots. Looks partly sunny today, so it will feel MUCH warmer. Plus, we are playing (not sure if I'll hit, or just walk around from group to group yet).

Yeah, that makes a big difference.  Standing around doesn't help keep the blood flowing.  That's why I walk those rounds.

My dad 78, still has a single digit? I think? Though he did hurt his back last summer trying to show me how far he can hit a 3 wood....

That sucks!  Hopefully that heals up for him.

I'm hoping to get out more this summer.  Life hasn't allowed me to play enough the last couple of years, but I finished last season really strongly so I'm hoping that I can carry that over the winter somehow.

Love the golf talk guys. I’m a diehard too and since I’ve retired, I have no excuses about not getting to play enough. I’ll play in the cold or the heat and in the rain (no lightning!), but the body has been rebelling for the last couple years. I hope to play with less pain this year and maybe get a little more distance.

I think the real question is whether being drunk on the couch at 11:30 qualifies as me being in the best shape of my life!

Regardless, I'm at work, a painful day at work, so being drunk at this point seems like an improvement over my current situation.

Remember to put Rum in your coffee, or better yet just drink the rum straight.  Either way it's ok, as the rum doesn't make you a drunk, it makes you a pirate.
