Either of Paddack or Lewis can go on the 60-day IL. No need for a trade to make 40-man room.

That's the only thing that makes sense. I read this Tweet then the comments and you're right: https://twitter.com/tlschwerz/status/1628177028884070402

Also I wonder who gets dropped from the Opening Day lineup.

But why? This move along with the Gallo is very puzzling to me? Who is your bench? Jeffers, Taylor, Farmer and one of Gordon or Solano?

Are we running with 14 position players?

Are planning on using St Paul as "resting " not official DL place for pitching?

This is puzzling.

Everything I've heard is Jeffers, Taylor, Farmer, and Gordon. Definitely doesn't make any sense but we will see if more comes out in the next 24 hours.

Larnach will now be fighting for a job in the majors (as well as Wallner), and both could end up starting at AAA. Taylor is the 4th outfielder. Gordon and Farmer bench guys. Jeffers catcher. Solano can backup first for sure and elsewhere. So that could be the Twins bench, rotating into a positional play to give a regular time as a DH. Was kind of expecting them to make the move.

Paddack and Lewis will both open season on 60 IL. They can be moved there now. (Twins could also put Centerino and, possibly, Balazovic on the same list, if they wish to give them major league money and time).

I'm thinking it's a Jake Cave like signing, having depth at AAA. When a spot is needed on the 40 man, they will try run him through waivers.

It’s a major league contract and he can’t be optioned without his consent. He will be on the Opening Day roster, I’m sure. Solano has hit well enough to be a viable option as a platoon DH and he’s played all over the infield.

Well, include me in the confused category then. Gordon sure isn't going to see time in the infield now. Unless there is actually a trade coming up with Kepler and there will be more room in LF for Gordon.

Get inside of falvey and lavines head and you should be able to figure out what they are doing  ...

I sure wish they would give the prospects more playing time , it used to be the twins way years ago ,,,

We either won or lost with our prospects  ...

If the FO doesn't have faith in the prospects abilities I wish they would just keep their mouth shut and quit telling us how good they think they are  ...

This feels like a stopgap for Polanco potentially leaving... or not being healthy, I guess. It's hard to say what's up, but seeing as how he's played a lot of 2B and Farmer is more likely to back up 3B/SS, it seems like they are expecting someone in the starting lineup to be out.

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be much faith in the prospects. Julien is close but clearly not close enough to prevent a signing like this, and neither is Austin Martin.

Sounds like this is insurance for Polanco coming back from his knee injury and for Kirilloff coming back from his wrist surgery. It's hard now to see how Larnach makes the team unless there is an OF trade or one of Kirilloff or Polanco can't go to start the season. Gordon is out of options and his performance last year puts him on the team, and they didn't bring in Farmer and Taylor to cut them or send them to AAA.  Maybe a Kepler trade is in the works?

The Twins will have 3 open spots on the 40-man roster after they put Paddack, Canterino, and Lewis on the 60-day IL. Solano fills one opening. That will still leave two spots for someone to earn their way onto the 40-man roster in spring training (or for a late reliever signing).

MLB teams don’t put minor leaguers like Canterino on the major league 60-day IL. That would give him big league pay and service time.
