What Kind of a Career Could Mauer have had if he played in Boston?

While watching the Twins unleash a barrage of hits on the Red Sox on Wednesday night, especially Joe Mauer, I started to wonder what kind of a career Mauer could of had if he had ever ended up in Boston.

"I hope that the Twins never have to worry about the problems that Mauer could create if he ever had the chance to play at Fenway for 81 games a season. Currently, Mauer has 1,304 hits entering play on Wednesday. Those numbers were accumulated despite the numerous injuries that Mauer has dealt with over his career. Think of the amount of hits that Mauer could have in his career if he were in Boston?"

What do you think Twins Centric, what kind of stats could Mauer have accumulated if he played in Boston and how would his career have been different? Would his legacy as a player change at all? I look forward to your thoughts! I appreciate all of the feedback and discussion I have received from my posts; thank you!

I have to include playing at Yankee stadium for 81 games in this conversation. If my memory serves right, Mauer has hit very well in New York, and if he played half a season with that short right field fence, I bet Mauer goes for the fences more often and averages 15 to 20 home runs a year if not more. Right now he hits 10 home runs a year in Target Field, but both Fenway and Yankee Stadium seem to be built for a guy like Mauer to abuse. I will always be happy that the Twins have Mauer, but it is an interesting what if question.

Well he would probably average 50 doubles a season. I also think he would be smart enough to let it rip once a game to try to pull it down that right field line.

I don't see why he'd try to rip them down the rightfield line. His swing is tailor-made to bounce balls off and over the Monster all season long.

Hed definently put up better numbers, just think of all those pop outs in TGF that would be a double or HR over the Monster. MLB network did a segment that talked about Mauers Power numbers since we left the Dome and they counted around 10 fly balls at TGF that would of been homers in the Dome. Just think thats atleast 10 more RBIs probably 15, and his AVG and power numbers would go up. I think the Twins should of done a better job at building target field to benefit Mauer.

Mauer's career line in Fenway (87 plate appearances): .324/.425/.568.

His BA is about the same, but power is amped up quite a bit. He has 9 doubles (in 74 AB) and 3 HR. that's a pretty small sample size , but it's possible he would be perceived as a much different hitter if he had half his games in Fenway.

I imagine he'd hit about as well as he has with us, probably with a hair more power. He'd be appreciated more by the fanbase and, due to more national exposure, around the country as well.
