Looks like 3 years, $12.4M.  I like this.  It's like a mini-play pulled out of the Braves playbook. Lock up the studs while they're young.

Ha! Seriously though, I like Paddack and was happy when they traded for him and sad when he went down.  I hope he reaches his potential here,  Good move.

I was going to text the same thing. It appears to be another doubling down on a decision, wanting to prove that they made the right move. Hope this time it works out.

Looks like a good deal, does it include this year? Then maybe not so much because this year is a wash. I'd happier if it were Gray.

I don't get how it's doubling down. The Twins traded for Paddack and received all of 22 IP before he went down with injury. Now they're paying a very modest amount to guarantee him three seasons, expecting him to pitch maybe 2.5 of those seasons for $12m.

This is exactly the kind of moves teams like the Twins need to make regularly. You go out and spend huge money for the likes of Carlos Correa and then try to sneak in value in this fashion. It worked quite well for Michael Pineda when the Twins got about 2.5 win value from him after signing him fresh off TJ and missing a season.

It's $12.5m over three seasons. If you get even 3-4 wins out of the guy for the money over 2.5 seasons, that's a massive win and exactly the kind of water this team needs to play in.

The entirety of the downside here is that the Twins can't go get a good reliever - not great, just good - in 2025 if Paddack fails to rehab effectively.

That hardly seems like a real downside.

Three different pitchers, and the topic is Chris Paddack.  You're ready to say that the FO is doubling down to prove they made the right move after a handful of starts?  And what does Gray have to do with this?  Pagan can go.  Paddack can stay -- especially for that price.  Gray can be extended.  All three things can happen independent of one another.
