Twins Baseball: Tales from a Shoeless Ghost

You look at the world in a different perspective when you are a kid.  Everything in the world, you want to experience and thoroughly enjoy.  Then you find that one thing, the first at many, at which you latch on to and never let go.  For me, one of those firsts happened back in 1991.

Seven nights, I remember staying up with family, to watch this thing called, The World Series.  I remember being told, the Minnesota Twins were our team.  I never questioned why, it was just, "ok, cheer for the Twins", because they are, our team.  What a series it was:

*Both teams won all their home games

*4 games went into extra innings

*Multiple games were settled by only a 1 run difference

All the drama that unfolded in this series, I remember crystal clear, like the old plexiglass walls that Kirby Puckett made the catch.  "Blackjack" Morris pitching a game 7, ten inning shutout, with the defense behind him preventing the Braves from even getting on base with Kent HrBek giving them, "a leg up", on those Braves.  Finally, when Gene Larkin popped that pinch hit single to bring home Dan Gladden, the Twins became two-time, World Series Champions.

It has been a long time since the Twins last appearance at the World Series.  Many years and opportunities have slipped through the cracks, some have even given up.  There has been even a few times, I have thought, it will never be like that again.  You have to remember, not every season your gonna win. You are not going to lose every season.  What matters is you are THERE, supporting your team every season.  Because when the chips are down, and you finally get there, the team needs the fans, just like the fans need them.
