Done deal

This is such a good deal for everyone. CC gets piles of cash up front, while he's good great.  He bets on himself to stay healthy and productive. The threshold for being 'productive' on His Team (he's at least Co-Face, now) evolves in a sensible way that will likely match his body. As he slows and loses the step needed for short, he can bulk up a bit more and focus on power and go from 25 to 35 HRs a season playing a corner or DH. It's actually pretty rare to see such a good deal for both sides in this game.

A good deal, except the player was this close to having another $150M committed to him. In his heart of hearts, he probably accepted this as "the best he could get", not "a good deal." Hope he's okay with just the $200M though - a nice booby prize for an elite athlete.

Whether he took the Twins deal, or the Mets even lower, and frankly insulting offer; he was going to feel slighted.

I'm no psychologist, but here's hoping that while the Mets didn't give him a contract, they did hand him a giant chip to put on his shoulder.
