At this point, whatever happens, it happens. While I'd love to have someone with his baseball acumen around to balance out the buffoonery of Rocco et al., is it worth it to have another zillion years with Boras?

Not really sure what that means? What's wrong with having a relationship with Boras? He's got all the nice toys.

Weirder things have happened. Ever since the Mets started getting cold feet I started to entertain that glimmer in my mind. If the Twins do sign him (still a BIG BIG if) I expect all the people who bashed the front office for apparently letting him get away to apologize. It may turn out that Falvine were timid like a fox all along.

Wow I can't believe it.  Still just how bad is this leg issue if even the free spending Mets don't want to the deal without more protection.  I mean if Borras and Correa are certain it is not going to be an issue then just include the language that if that leg becomes an issues the contract changes.

I would love Correa for the next five its the five years after that that worry me.

Even though you're speaking on behalf of the player, I hear your point. In this situation, however, it's a fair question. Is he just settling? Does he think his value is higher and will sulk or seek a trade? Or simply underperform?

Correa doesn't seem hardwired that way, but it is a reasonable question.

If I had to speculate, and that is all any of us can do at this point, Correa doesn't want to move much off the length of contract. That's just a guess though.

I don't think the FO should be getting any praise even if they were to sign Correa, at least not yet. And that's coming from me who is a lot higher on this FO than others. Two teams that are practically begging free agents to take their money backed out of deals with Correa, and given the recent injury history of trade acquisitions/signings by this FO, you would have to wait for at least 3 years (or dare I say, a WS victory) to give any kind of credit to the FO.

It would also not change the fact that they were one fluky Correa injury away from having an absolutely horrendous offseason.

I wonder if MLB stepped in and said something to Cohen along the lines if teams lose revenue cause he signs all of the star players the league will suffer as a whole for it and he needs to let other teams sign a star player for that reason.

If he really is seeking the most money in his pocket, then going to Mets over Twins is wrong call.  Yes, the total in the contract was 30 mil more, but over 2 additional years, and with the taxes and cost of living, he would actually have more money in his pocket with the Twins. Most players do not look at those things though.

I speculated that with the teams of the Giants and Mets, is it may be their insurance company balking at the deal based on the physical.  It is possible, after the medicals came back, they insurance company would not sign off on the deal, basically saying if he gets injured that ends career, team still on the hook.  Contracts like these always have insurance purchased by the team.  However, if the insurance will not sign off, then team would be on hook.  That could be the issue with the Mets.  If a team is willing to take that risk, then so be it. Rumors I was reading was Mets wanted an opt out if the leg leads to career affecting injury.

I think they’ve agreed on years but not dollars.

They being the Twins?

If so, thats still quite a large stumbling block to get over on the way to stealing him from the Mets unless its something like "Carlos wants $300 and the Twins are at $295" .

Yep, the Twins. I'm hearing somewhat vague details but my gut is saying the Twins land him. I keep hearing enough information to believe the biggest stumbling blocks have been cleared and they're down to arguing about dollars.

I guess it would all come down to how big the gap is on the dollars then.

I hope your sources are correct, so we can put all this to rest, the Twins get their SS and I can go buy a #4 Correa jersey.
