Kluber signed by Redsox for 1 year, 10 Mil with option year

Aaaaaand another one that got away....

At this point are we really just content with running back what we had in the rotation?

If this fails (which all odds point to that being the outcome) I would hope this spells the end for Falvine's tenure.

An inexcusable lack of action this offseason. We wettn winners in 2022 even with Correa. Gallo and Vasquez arent gonna make up that gaping difference in talent.

Is Kluber better than anyone on the roster? He's depth at this point, isn't he? I mean, look at the deal he got. It is clear teams don't think all that much of him.

At this point probably not and he would just block Ober I assume and that for me is not acceptable.

Are we just going to create a thread for every FA signing for the rest of the offseason and complain that the Twins didn't sign them even though they aren't better than the options already on the roster? Cuz that's where we're at. There's nobody left that significantly improves this team. Especially in the starting pitcher category.

Complaints about them not signing the top end FA while they were still available are certainly justifiable. But at this point we're complaining that injury riddle, high-3s to low 4s ERA pitchers are getting passed on when the Twins already have 4 guys that are already as good, or better, options than that. The FA market is no longer an option for improving this team. Time to accept that. There's nobody left on the market we should be sad they didn't sign.

I guess my frustration is moreso the culmination of everything leading up to this point....I just want some dang excitement to build around this team, and I think that hope has pretty much vanished at this point. No, Kluber in 2023 isnt what he was a few years back, but I just want to be thrown a bone here.....ANYTHING!

I definitely get the frustration with the offseason, and team really, as a whole. It's not been a good run for us fans. I think our best hope is for a trade of some sort. Or multiple trades. I'd think the trade market will start heating up a little now that there's no real FA difference makers left.

I agree.  Let's be done complaining about FA's and start thinking about being excited about trades.  We know for a fact that at least one is coming since there is no way they keep Kepler since he is redundant of Joey G.  I think that there will much more on the trade front to get excited about soon.

Right, Gotta move Kepler and one or two more guys to get an arm, whether proven Starter or highly regarded prospect. Kepler alone will get us nothing. (Celestino - Walner - Sands - Jeffers are all in the mix for stronger pitching depth) Kepler plus two more pieces should yield some value.

Would really like to see Maeda in Pen for 2-3 months as the probable “bridge” from middle 5th into the 7th in winnable games. Maybe all year. Don’t see Varland or any of the other young Starters forcing that move. However, signing Cueto as a depth piece and allowing Maeda to work from the Pen would be a potential back up plan to the Kepler & crew for pitcher transaction. Just seems Maeda’s experience is a better bet for middle/long relief than anyone else we have. He did exactly that for Dodgers for years & made spot starts as needed. He would shorten the need for 5 relievers used down to 3 in games we are ahead in during 5th. I think his best value for TEAM…….best protection for his arm at 35.

While I agree that moving Maeda to the pen sounds intriguing in a vacuum, I think they're going to give him every chance to keep a spot in the rotation. Almost all of his money is tied into games started and innings. Putting him in the pen would cost him millions of dollars, and that's not a good look for a team.

Maeda was also far more than a spot starter for the Dodgers. They moved him to the pen at the end of the season, and for the playoffs, but he was a legit starter for the vast majority of the season when he was there. He made 32, 25, 20, and 26 starts in his seasons in LA. He was no spot starter.

Agreed. We just need to have one master thread lament the FO's "plan" for the upcoming season and future.

We are down to "hope that #1: nearly all the prospects develop into at least above average players AND #2: that we are nearly injury free for the season" so that we can maybe win the weak central division and be swept in the playoffs.

That is a lot of hoping for what would amount to a pretty low ceiling.
