Twins Sign Joey Gallo

I have been trying to stay positive in this offseason but I am totally without words for this move. We have a Glut of left handed outfielders so we go out and spend on a washed up low average guy ... blocking guys from our system that should be given the opportunity ... Argh.

Somewhere in their delusuional mind the metric morons will justify this.

So Kepler is gone.

Guy plays good defense like Kepler, can lead the league in walks and Ks and hit HRs.

He sucked with the Yankees and Dodgers so leads me to believe the pressure got to him, which won't help the Twins win any playoff games.

And more lefties who can't hit lefties. They must have quite the package lined up for Kepler because this isn't an upgrade,

There goes my dream of the best 1-2 on base punch of Arraez-Brantley in histore.

They are desperate to not look cheap, and praying Gallo is great again......hope is not a strategy. Also, one year? Who cares. It fixes nothing in the short term.

They better deal Kepler for a great prospect or 2 good ones now. That would be buying a prospect, I guess I can squint and see that.

Gallo provides defensive value, something Sano could not do and something Wallner likely won't.

My issue is, Gallo is not an upgrade defensively over Kepler and with the shift ban, might not even be an upgrade over Kepler.

I've had my issues with Kepler over the years, but this was the year to hang onto him.

He put up 0.6 WAR with his defense last year. 0.6.

Here's another problem I have.

Kepler is coming off a bad year, with the potential to have a really good year if the analytics are correct. Kepler also has a team option next year. Gallo has the chance to bounce back, but he's on a 1 year contract, so if he does he's going to get a massive contract next year from someone not named the Twins.

Twins had the chance to have a potential huge trade package next year for Kepler or keep him for a season on the cheap and get massive production for little money.

Now there is a great chance neither happens, but the Twins didn't put themselves in position to benefit if that comes true. This just adds to my belief that Falvine duo is clueless.

I dont know about you all but Gallo doesnt seem like an impact addition. It does probably mean goodbye Kepler though.

In 2811 plate appearances Joey Gallo has 3 sac flies. HOW???? That is almost impossible. (Btw how is he walks and strikes out a ton but still 3!!!)

I’m sad….

what if instead of Kepler being traded away, it’s Larnach?

That would be even worse for a team that NEEDS to build from within. Unless they get a great prospect that works out.....and is timed to coincide with Lee and Lewis and Miranda being great......

Kepler is likely gone now. Moving from a likable player like Kepler to a guy like Gallo with his strike out rate is asking for trouble. I don't hate this move but it's easy to see how it backfires just from a fan morale point of view.

I'm really bummed. I thought this was a joke when I 1st saw this. After the disappointment of not signing Correa, the FO needed to do something to move the needle. It moved the wrong way.

This FO seems like they can't do anything right unless someone slaps them & then hand it to them and hope they don't drop it which sometimes they do.

Used to be a high strikeout and low batting average guy that could get on base.  Now he's just so bad that he's not even a reaonable OBP guy. Just a guy that swings for the fences and strikes out 40% of the time. Just another Miguel Sano.

Boooooooooooooo! Smelly offseason just keeps getting worse.
