Twins sign 2 pitchers to minor-league deals

Well, in the last 24 hours, at least the Twins are doing something. Three big names out there and the Twins are allegedly in on all three (Swanson, Rodon, Correa), although one of Swanson or Correa will be plenty.

De León reminds me that there aren't many sure things among prospects, particularly pitching prospects. He's 30 now and no more than any other lottery ticket. It would be great if a couple of minor league contracts turn into major contributors, but I doubt than De León is one of them.

Why is this guy still getting reps as a starter? I remember not wanting him during the Dozier days because he was basically a two-pitch pitcher. Seems like with his lack of pitches, his poor recent results and his injury history, he'd have been a full time reliever about a half decade ago.

Makes sense.  Maybe the Twins share you opinion and have convinced him to work toward a BP role.  At this point in his career, it seems futile to keep doing the same thing.

I think St Paul could have a really good staff this upcoming season, but just like the Twins, they need depth due to injuries and promotions. I think both of these signings are less than inspiring, but depth is needed, and once in a while you catch lightning.  Wisler to  smaller degree and Thielbar to a much greater degree.

At this point in his career he would be delusional to think anything other then bullpen is his ticket back to MLB

Wasn't De Leon one of the pieces offered for Dozier? I vaguely remember something about him and Bellinger for Dozier. But the Dodger wouldn't part with Bellinger.

I'd have to look up the rumors, but if memory serves me correctly, it was the Dodgers that were unwilling to part with De Leon, which is why the original trade never got done.
