That's a pretty risky roster. Why Julien at second when Arraez and Gordon exist?

Arraez's knees likely let him play more games as a first baseman, and I like Gordon as a super-utility guy. Also, depending on how well he hits, Julien is potentially just a placeholder at second base for that Lee fellow we drafted this summer.

I see that you're loading up on prospects for the future Coom-Dog, but this roster would have attendance fall off a cliff and the Twins out of any kind of contention by Memorial Day.  If we're willing to throw nearly $18 million annually at Taillon, why not just spend $5 million more per year and get someone "better."  The re-do of this seasons catching combo won't do any better than this year, and would probably do worse.  I do like that you brought back Correa.  But if the Twins do indeed bring him back they will most certainly address the catching situation as well as add a "quality" SP.  Taillon just doesn't move the needle.  They should be looking to add someone thru FA or a trade that would be the #1 of our rotation.  Not a #3 or #4.

RC, I like where you are headed here and disagree with TopGunn that this wouldn’t sell to the fans.  Buxton/Correa and new rookies will sell at the beginning. These are Minnesota fans - winning will keep selling later in the year; losing won’t sell regardless of who’s on the team.

A couple of thoughts:

1. Kiriloff instead of Garlick, lefty bat notwithstanding. He could start in RF with Larnach in LF. Martin and Gordon are the primary RH bats off the bench or against a lefty starter.
2. There is room still for Lewis and Lee later in the year. In fact, I think with those two and no Garlick and Celestino, your position player lineup is pretty much how this team is going to look come late August.
3. Maeda starts - SP3. So it’s Gray, Mahle, Maeda, Ryan and Ober with SWR, Winder, Varland, Dobnak, etc. waiting in the wings,
4. I like Fulmer, but even with him we still need two more really good, reliable, non-injured RPs to add to this group to replace Maeda and Winder.
5. Are there really no better C options than Sanchez at $8MM?
6. I’d like to see whom we could get for Kepler, Polanco, and Urshela - maybe one or two SP4/5 types, one or two RPs, or a C to address some of points 3-5 above.

Good job.

RC, I like your since of creativity for the future of the Twins.. I’m a little concerned about Arraez playing 2nd in “23” because of the larger range to cover and having shorter launch starting point. He maybe better at 1b. I would prefer to  keep Polanco as he’s a switch hitter with some power. I would be willing to move Garlick and 1 of a glut of left handed young  such as Larnach, Kirilloff, Kepler or Wallner, for starting pitcher Lopez of the Marlin’s. I would trade with the Blue Jays for a young catcher. Maybe sign FA right handed outfielder M. Haniger. Resign Correa and Fulmer & 1 more relief pitcher.

I like trading Polanco, Kepler, and Urshela to restock the minor league system.

I also think adding hanniger as a free agent [2yrs and 25 million] will definitely help add a right handed outfield Bat.

Also would like Correa back, think [8yrs 292 million] with opt outs after year 2,4,6. To sweeten the deal.

Then sign Rodon for [4yrs 108 million] opt out after year 2. Should put payroll around 150 million.

Sandy Leon for part time Catcher fine with me good defense and will Bat 9th, just like Jeffers should.

Like Juilen at 2B. And batting 2nd behind Arraez. They both could. Be 375-400 on base guys,

Correa hits 3rd so he can get RBI"s with those 2 on base ahead of him. Then Buxton 4th, he don't use his speed anymore anyway.

Your Thoughts?

interesting idea! I think if you're still under "budget" like this I'd look to upgrade the 4th OF slot with a hitter like Wil Myers over Garlick. (and it would provide better insurance if Martin isn't ready for MLB pitching yet) I think it's more likely that kirilloff is on the this roster than Wallner, but you never know with health?

I like it except a couple things. Taillon @17.5 is steep of a #3. Why not go with Eovaldi for something similar 2x20 or 3x18? He's a #2 when healthy and a #3 when not. Martin and Julien both making the roster may be asking a bit much of guys who haven't played AAA ball yet. I like Sanchez but think he might be too expensive for what the Twins want. Old friend Castro, Narvaez or a Barnhard type probably work better. If it fits in the budget Wil Myers as RF/1B would help with lefties and platoon with Arreaz at 1st well.

Eovaldi got a QO today. Given the state of the farm and the apparently FO's ability to find guys deeper in the draft (see also Eduoard Julien), I'd try like hell to avoid signing guys like Eovaldi.
