The manager the Twins should have gone after...

25 years experience as a big league manager with 2003 wins, 12th most in MLB history, and with 38 mores wins, he moves into the top 10. He has 44 post season wins, which is 6th in MLB history. Six division titles, four World Series appearances and three World Series titles. Probably a HOF manager. All of that is better than the best manager in Twins history...TK. Maybe it's just me, but I'd take him over Baldelli in a heartbeat.

Tony La Russa has 37 years experience as a big league manager with 2902 wins, 2nd most in MLB history, but he's not catching Connie Mack. He has 71 postseason wins, which is 2nd in MLB history. Thirteen division titles, six World Series appearances, and three World Series titles. Already a HOF manager. All of that is better than Bruce Bochy. Maybe it's just me, but he was brutally bad for the White Sox and did them just as much harm as Baldelli did to the Twins because the game has changed and the answer isn't simply bringing back "old school" managers.

I know what you're saying, and there's no doubt the game has changed. You can argue that it's changed for the better...or not. LaRussa had been out of the game for 10 years. Bochy only 3. He can't be THAT out of touch in only 3 years. In any event, it's only my opinion. You have yours. Everyone is entitled to theirs.

For the record I would argue it's changed for the worse. I don't enjoy the new game. But not playing the new style equals more losses and I'm against the Twins losing games.

Recent reports have the White Sox interviewing Ozzie Guillen for their open managerial spot. They appear pretty dead set on testing the "old school manager will help" theory over there.
