Why wait until Friday to get this started?

they couldn't know both LCS would be done already, and Fri-Sat-Mon-Tue-Wed-Fri-Sat works on many levels.

You have to schedule the WS ahead of time.

Houston has such great pitching. It was almost unfair how the Astros could use Luis Garcia against Seattle in extra innings and just know he could throw shutout innings all night. Then the Yankees got the Christian Javier experience. The depth is pretty stout with Verlander, Valdez, McCullers, Garcia, Javier, Urquidy, and Brown. The Houston bats have been fairly quiet so far and they can be expected to awake.

Philadelphia has Nola and Wheeler and some decent bullpen pitchers. The lineup can mash if they are swinging hot, with all of Harper, Realamuto, Hoskins, Schwarber, and Castellanos capable of lengthy hot streaks. The Phillie park also plays well for them.

It should fun to watch but if the Astros pitchers keep the ball all around the black like they mostly have done so far, the series should definitely favor the Houston team. Alvarez is ready to break out for the Stros too.

Just curious - do you think the NFL should go back to 12 games?

I only wonder if folks generally believe that sports seasons are too long.

No I think 16 games was the correct amount for NFL. Many NFL teams were obviously not ready for week one this season. As for baseball, 162 is far too many unless every team has double headers every week. In the case of the Twins, in case they go far far in the post season, they start the season in the snow and end in the snow. Baseball is a summer game, that’s my main reason for a shorter season.

They need to start scheduling it in Minnesota. Seems like the local team almost always ends up making it.

Looking good for Phila tonight. I like the Philadelphia team better than the Houston team. The only thing keeping me from jumping on the Phillie bandwagon is the well-earned reputation of Philadelphia sports fans as being jerks. Or worse. However, my mom has friends and neighbors, a married couple, who are the biggest-hearted, most sincerely nice people I have ever met in my life. And they are Phillie fans. Simply for the sake of these wonderful people I hope the Phillies finish this World Series with a 4-game winning streak and wrap it up at home.

Is it OK that I’m happy Dusty Baker got a ring?  I didn’t want the Astros to win, but I guess sports related silver linings shine brighter for me these days.

Heh, I was just coming here to say, ‘Well, I’m happy for Dusty Baker’

Okay, but turned it off once they started to interview Altuve

The post season was really full of excellent baseball and the Astros were the best team of all. It is fitting that they won the World Series, with their pitching, defense, slugging, and aggressive base-running. Dusty Baker has been a real pro for more than a half century. I'm happy for him and his players really showed affection towards him. Congratulations to Houston and to all of the playoff teams for their fine efforts in the last month. It was fun to watch.
