We could wind up seeing a verrrry different Twins squad next season.

Possibly gone: Urshella, Corea, Polanco, Kepler, even Buxton.

In their places: Miranda, Lewis, Brooks Lee, Kirilloff, with Arraez subbing 3b, 2b, 1b. Outfield, Larnach, Martin, Wallner. You could still have Celestino and Cave as backups, with Gordon as super-sub.

I won't even get into the pitching staff. Mind-blowing.

If I were Twins management, I'd offer the same contract but with an increase, say 40-45 million, 3 years with an opt out each year.

He has been so much fun to watch in a Twins uniform to me. Model teammate.

IMO, he's really the main reason the Twins aren't battling KC for the basement, well him and Sanchez and Urshala and Gray. Having some winners on the roster trickles down.

Not my money, but no better player to help this team redevelop some swagger if everybody can get healthy someday.

I'm happy that Correa would even consider playing here. Correa came through at the end but where Correa really shines is in the post season which he won't have a chance to show that this year. Therefore, I'm surprized that he's open to sign with a team that's having trouble to compete.

IMO Correa will have difficulty finding a team to pay him the kind of $ that he wants. At the end, MN maybe the best fit for Correa with availble $ & desire. Although it could be for less $ & less time. I'd love for CC to come back.

I loved watching CC4 play this year and do not regret the Twins signing him to that contract.  I agree with others in this thread that we cannot sign him to a long term contract as he will be vastly over paid during the second half of the deal.

If they cannot get him on a <5 year deal then let him go and say thanks for the memories.

With the lower attendance this year, even with CC4 on the team, and the Twins in first place for much of the year, might management lower the payroll or even lower ticket prices (although I LOL at this) to improve attendance numbers and accommodate the paying fans who cannot afford to attend games any more at these prices?  If they do this, then CC4 will for sure not be retained on a long term deal.

His September definitely left us with "what might have been."  Had the rest of the team put themselves in a position to compete for the division, Carlos was here to lead them and, maybe, carry them on his back the rest of the way.

Sooooooooooo.......

When/if he is gone, do we go back to booing him, like as recent as the din at Target in 2021 (just last season), for his unapologetic trashcangate cheating? Or, along with Houston, do we continue to be the only other fanbase that doesn't (and perhaps his new team if it isn't back to the Astros)?

It would be really ironic if the Dodgers sign him. The fans were relentless even 3 years later........

I won’t. Been there, done that, over that. But you do you and I’ll do me. ?

So does that mean you were a booer as recent as 2021?

Personally, I didn't do the booing at all, ever. But I was and am certainly entertained by it and feel it is deserved, especially since none of the players got a punishment or suspension, and that is the only type of "punishment" they have to endure.

Move the team to North Carolina.

I believe in the term "Minnesota nice" and I hope Twins fans do not act hypocritically by booing Correa when he is in Minnesota playing for another team.

Twins fans will boo him if he (or Scott Boras) makes unpleasant comments during his opt out process.  But for the cheating, probably not.  We put that behind us, even if other fans haven’t.

Makes me wonder, then, if the booers have already acted hypocritcally by ignoring it as long as he in on our team. If he wasn't, would they be booing him this year as well? The sounds at Target last year showed that a very large % felt he deserved it. Nothing canged except the new uniform. Human behavior is interesting.

But, in fairness, he acted beautifully to win us over when he first signed (when we [me, at least] were still in absolute shock)—calling it Buxton’s team and all that.  And then by being a hustling and good teammate.  As for cheating, yeah, I may have booed him, but I also realize that ball players are always tempted to take the edge when offered.  The question was to what degree he was a ringleader.

And they will lose 120 games if they do, and if they go that route might as well blow the whole works up and start over again which may not be a bad idea.

Cheating has been enshrined in MLB baseball since it's very beginning.  The only difference is beginning in the 60's performance enhancers starting with steroids became common place.  It took MLB FOREVER to get past the MLBPA to actually start testing in the early 2000's even though steroids had been banned since 1991.  Now they are switching to adderall which acts as a stimulant.  It is completely understandable that athletes will try and cheat and i have no problem with it.  Cheating is part of everyday life (sports, relationships, business transactions, etc.).  Get it while you can as you only live once.

Could be but highly unlikely, I think Correa is the only one gone and not because I don't like what he brings,

he is just too expensive. If they think Lewis will be back mid-season slide Polanco over there until he is.

And what makes you think Polanco will be healthy enough? I’d rather see Gordon at SS than Polanco at this point. The only solution is to re-sign Correa to the contract he wants. ?

My comment is just my guess at what happens in 2023.

I see two choices for the Twins.  Either the Twins:

A)  Sign Correa, put their faith in the young pitchers, and spend what they can for a catcher, an outfielder, and a shortstop.  Oar

B) They don't sign Correa and spend what can for two quality starters (not a mythical "Ace"), two good relief pitchers, and then spend any leftover money on an OF, a SS, and a catcher.

If the Twins decide A is the best option, I think the young arms will fail to produce and the season goes to hell by June.

If the Twins decide B is the best option, all the pitching acquisitions succumb to shoulder/elbow problems and the season goes to hell by June.

Either way, we start complaining about the Twins chosing Option A instead of Option B (or vice versa), dreaming about 2024, and debating what the Twins will need to do to during the off-season.
