What it’s like being a Twins fan in 2022

More frustrating than painful for me due to the stubborn adherence to a style of baseball guaranteed to fail. The Plan ignores any reality on the field and the lack of fundamentals ensures that something ruinous will occur eventually during the games.

Oh well, people can change and there is always tomorrow.

The same as it has been since their first year; enjoy the victories, accept the losses and hope for  better for the future.

Great post

They really have collapsed. I keep looking at lineups, and counting the guys we thought were starters.... And the number just isn't high enough right now.

Started with a lockout.

Then, for some reason, fear of going downtown and aprking in your favorite cheap lot and walking to the game, or taking the lightrail, because of reported crime.

The Twins were the only winning team in the division. 10 whole games above .500. Yet few times did the Twins crack 22,000 in attendance, which means sooooo many empoty (and cheap) seats available.

What was with the short starts. Always less than 100 pitches. Seldom over five innings. The bullpen was clearly the stars of the game. Because a starter is expected to give up runs during their stint in a game. The hope is that your batters just hit and score more.

We lost one-run games, close games. Yet can't blame the pitching from the Wes Johnson-era. The bats failed. A fielding mistake happened.

Then, the collapse. A great team sitting in the rehab room nursing injuries.

A collapse agaisnt the Guardians. A sweep by the Royals. Will the Tigers put the final nail into the season's closed coffin.

Well, at least we had the FO/Baldelli show to watch. Oh, and horrible fundamentals across the board. Think of the half dozen times a game where you were 100% against the decisions being made and got all stirred up. Imagine if everyone DID play up to their potential, made fewer errors, took the extra base, and Baldelli let the SPs sniff the 7th inning. With all the injuries, would even that have been enough to make it to the postseason? Maybe. But boy how boring it would have been.....

Any chance for a better future should include a lot of PLAYER DEVELOPMENT. Honestly, was there any chance that there may have been 1 or 2 or 16 young AAA prospects that could have helped this season. Just sayin. Good Luck next season.

Respectfully submitted,

TITO !!!

Painful to see them do so well and fall apart, but I would much rather spend my days watching baseball than most other things and win or lose, I'll be a fan.

This is how I feel about the season too. Royce Lewis created so much excitement, especially when Buxton was tearing it up to start the season. Then things starting going downhill. FA made some quality moves at the deadline, or so I thought, then Lopez forgot how to pitch. It was such a strange season, a true roller coaster.

Hoping 2023 is normal meaning less injuries, coaches not leaving in the middle of the season, and more consistent play

This was a tough year. My biggest complaint was the constant failure to hit in run scoring situations...or at least to try and change the narrative rather than trying to pull outside pitches, or trying to hit the ball to Winnipeg, when a well placed line drive would do. How many k's, GIDP's or soft fly balls did we see on those many occasions?

Next, the injuries to so many key players. While they happen to every team, the Twins lineup second half was embarrassing. Most the players called up from AAA did not produce at all.

the bullpen. Ouch.

Still a fan. One day they will put it all together. They may even win a playoff game!
