Game Thread: Twins @ Cleveland 9/16/22, 6:10pm CDT

Absolutely in charge....then an error an 0-2 two out game tying single; 2 more singles and a wild wild wild pitch that our catcher can't locate scoring the winning run from 2nd.

That script will look pretty good in the Cleveland yearbook.

Twins are done. Won't matter if Polo and Buck and Kepler come back now.

Okay, I admit it:  I came home and saw the line score, 3-0 Twins in the 7th.   I saw the bullpen was in with runners on second and third, and I couldn’t watch or listen!  I just followed the inevitable line score and looked at our game thread.  I finally tuned into the radio broadcast for our last two outs.  I’ve become a wimp of a Twins fan after 55 years.  ? Sorry…

No need to bring any of them back

It was over for me about two weeks ago

It was basically over for me at least that long ago.

in addition to all the problems raised here, I think there's one more that's seldom heard.  That being the relative lack of quality organizational depth at the higher levels of the minors.  You can say all you want about Kiriloff, Larnach, and the like, but who did they have after that?  Just AAAA players and organizational "depth".  That's not going to cut it at this level.  Not this year nor any other year.

And thats that. Twins steal defeat from the jaws of victory once more. What a horrible baseball game. tough game for your best bullpen guy to have a miserable outing.

But again...look at our lineup. Too many guys out or banged up. Men against boys...but the boys should have won this one. They are fitting the cover of the coffin.

I think it's nearly closed by now.

It’s been over for a very long time. The only question was whether either of the other two bum teams could get hot enough to pass us by. And both did, but Cleveland deserved it the most. Good luck to them. They’ll probably get swept but at least they’ve played well enough lately to earn the trip

Gordon b4 the play you gotta know whos running,  not after you have the ball, more mental mental errors,  thats why he had to hurry his throw,  And pulling Fullmer Rocco why

Gordon has very few errors but when he makes one it seems like he is totally lost.

Also how about that professional pinch running substitution,

Naylor leads off with a single, and instead of Francona automatically sending in the pinch runner immediately, like average managers would, Francona waits to see what happens. If the next batter grounds into a double play, congratulations you just wasted the substitution. If the next batter gets on base, then you have more information.

Obviously every situation is different, but Francona played that perfectly.

Reading one article, the Friday night loss was mostly pinned on the bullpen.  One sentence committed to Nick Gordon's fielding error.  Yeas the bullpen coughed up some big hits, but Gordon's errant throw opened the door and set the stage for the Guardians comeback.  It was a blatant error, in that it was even close.  He had the time and opportunity, but choked.  He didn't even have to stick around til the end, as he took a foul ball (or a boo-boo) off his foot.
