Provus and Gladden have Levine on the radio and they aren’t towing the company line like Dick Bremer. Gladden asked why they aren’t teaching pitchers to make it the 3rd time through the order… Provus questioned Buxton’s rest schedule and hiding him at DH.

Wish I would've known he was going on

I’ll share this in the game thread I guess.

When you are done, please forget you ever read it.

Thad Levine is on the radio broadcast right now. Dan Gladden asked Levine why Twins players don’t steal bases. Levine answered: “Some Twins players are psychologically afraid of failure. We are working with them and Twins coaches are trying to help them.”

Levine at least gets points from me for not naming names, and for speaking publicly when times are tough, something he does more than Falvey.

(posted a pitch before the hr)

Not sure how to interpret that exactly

How does a professional athlete get to the pinnacle of their sport and have this attitude?

You didn’t miss much unfortunately. Levine said many words that amounted to nothing at all.

Gotta love corporate speak. Not that I expected anything different, it just would've been nice to see this FO actually questioned by local media.

Joe Ryan should not be a lock in the rotation next year. His numbers are terrible against teams not named Kansas City and Detroit.

I never really trusted he would last long. I could never understand how he was as successful as he was. Smoke and mirrors doesn’t fool ml hitters forever

Just like a FO to shift blame and not own that they picked all the players and liked them all thing considered. That was the focus of Joe Maddon's interview that is getting quoted a lot. That is one weird comment to put out there, saying the guys you pick and develop are afraid of failure.

Ryan needs a semi respectable secondary pitch if he's going to hang in the mid/back end of a rotation. Easier said than done, but guys are sitting FB and the HR numbers don't lie...

Yep…couldn’t throw the slider where he wanted at all the entire game. Change up only ok. IMO, it’s a testament to how good the FB is (movement/delivery) that he can scuff along as well as he does sometimes.

At least after this series we can kind of tune out and put our energy into the Vikings disappointing everyone and just missing the playoff again

Hard to imagine it would be significantly worse than the fiasco known as the Twins.

I like Ryan…still high on him. But…assuming for a moment that my view is the ‘correct’ assessment…whose pipeline would he represent? ?

I liked him coming into this season, still do, but the luster has worn away a bit. I think the opening day start and general dearth of SPs led to expectations that wildly exceeded realistically where he'd end up if things worked out, the back end of a rotation. Vanimal's not wrong though, the margin between AAAA and number 5 starter is thin, and he's pitched more like the latter in the second half.

Cole should be out - it will be the third time through the lineup - right?  Oh, that's right he doesn't pitch for the Twins.

He would be if he pitched for the Twins.  As most of us realize.

Those were pretty much the exact words too. To answer your question: no clue.

I don’t know if @Vanimal46 heard that part. I was kind of sleepwalking through the interview til that point.

I can’t imagine being interrogated by Dan Gladden

Gladded gets a ton of hate and I understand a lot of it, but it would be nice if the current roster had a player or two with some of the hard nosed attitude he played with. One of the GMs commenting about guys having a fear of failure only confirms that we are a soft organization without much leadership or direction. You think a team with multiple guys like that could ever succeed in October? The playoff loss streak is NOT a freak turn of nature. We’ve been hearing stuff like that since 2003 when Torii said some of the guys were looking to head home in the Yankees series

The FB is a real weapon, but yeah, the off speed stuff is so inconsistent. He's not super young by baseball standards which makes me anxious about whether he'll be able to develop good enough feel/control of another pitch and last.
