If Twins do not at minimum split with Yankees, should we even care if we make playoffs?

And NYY announcing postponement tonight, doubleheader tomorrow. Cie la vie.

Had tickets for Wednesday’s game to see with a Yankee fan; now I have to watch us lose two games in a single-admission doubleheader [sigh].

P.S. This is not new:  I used to go to doubleheaders at the old Yankee Stadium in the 1970s, and, yes, the Twins generally lost both games to a mediocre Yankee team.

Well, they didn’t split. They got swept, which could have easily been predicted. Even if this team made the playoffs, they have no chance of advancing: all the wildcard teams are far superior, and play in much tougher divisions, against much tougher competition. AL Central playoff teams rarely advance.

While I wouldn't bet on the Twins tonight, can we at least let them play the game before we mark this down as an official sweep?

Oh, and they won the season series against every likely wildcard team. But other than that, I agree they obviously have no chance of beating any of the teams they've already beaten.

The way this team is RGHT NOW they have no chance of beating any good team.  In fact, as is, they are one of the worst teams in baseball.  Could that change, yes, but frankly not sure if they are healthy enough, nor will they be before the end of the season.

One word: reinforcements

I would argue that roughly a third of the 10-15 best players on the roster are expected to be back for the playoff run.

Buxton, Mahle (hopefully?), Polanco, Winder/Ober, Larnach, Jeffers (maybe?)

Polanco. That is it. Don't count on the rest of them at all. I am not. He is the only one that has a chance to come back IMO. Expecting anything out of the rest of them would be pure luck I think. Maybe see some Buxton yet.
