2022 Vikings Regular Season Thread

Feels like the classic "we won our Super Bowl last week, so don't bother to show up this week". We were due for a loss, but like this? Oof. I am intrigued to see how this team plays on Thursday after a short turnaround, to see how much of a blip on the radar this game is.

time to time to pull Kirk before he gets injured behind this disaster of an offensive line

It took an overthrow by heinicke and a boneheaded hit on our long snapper to help us beat Washington. And a fumbled snap in the end zone and circus catches to beat buffalo. This loss will just make the inevitable playoff loss easier to swallow. No depth and even our front line starters especially on defense aren’t great. It just is what it is

Man, that was a beating for the ages. I never thought this team had Super Bowl asperations, not even after beating the Bills last week, so I'm not crushed by this loss. It will depend on whether this loss snowballs into multiple. We rattled off 7 wins after getting beat good by the Eagles, if we can at least win on Thanksgiving and hold our own from then on, this won't be such a bad loss. But it's weird having this much success with a first year HC/GM with so many close wins, and then a disaster like this. I'm not sure what to think.

But in my time watching the NFL, plenty of teams have started off super hot just to fall apart down the stretch and do nothing in the playoffs. The Vikings look like they could fit that trope to a T.

Vikings are 8-2 but now have a negative point differential

I never really thought they were so that good. Above average? Probably. Great? No. This defense was awful last year, no way they could fix it in one year. I'm going to end up ok with winning the division, given last year. I'm going to be disappointed after this start it wasn't more.

One of the biggest problems is depth. Darrishaw goes out and we give up like 6 more sacks? Dalvin Tomlinson goes out and we force two punts all game? Same with dantzler?

Can't fix it in one year. But they lost perhaps the best LT in the game.... The DBs..... We knew that group was thin when the year started.

NE is the first team to give up less than 125 yards in offense in back to back weeks in decades....  Good luck next week

Yup, they had insanely good injury luck and their opponents up to this point were severely banged up (Bills were missing 5-6 starters but the time the game was over!). And the negative point differential is hilarious. I was starting to change my mind about the personnel not being the problem with this team after the Bills win, but now I'm back to it. There are too many holes on this team to be a SB contender now... I just don't know if they can fix everything over a single offseason. And if they try to, it's going to require another Cousins extension into his late 30s...

And I don’t believe there’s enough draft capital to fill the many holes with much quickness. Concerned about kirk’s ability to stay healthy. He’s been one of the healthiest quarterbacks in the league but the man has been abused for about 3 weeks in a row now and the patriots and jets are on the horizon. Have to wonder how darrishaw was about to play this week after getting a concussion last week. Another Tua situation except no one will notice since he isn’t a QB

Relax. It’s one embarrassing game. See you on Thursday.

It is, but the incredible wins covered up the flaws. I’ve not trusted the defense all year. If they don’t get the big turnovers they struggle. Turnovers are notoriously hard to predict and often a product of luck (right place right time).
