2022 Vikings Regular Season Thread

Fun game to watch probably because for some reason, in spite of the bad/no calls etc (and that Washington d-line), I felt they would win. This team has heart and I've got to say, two years ago I said couldn't watch Cousins anymore. Well he has grown on me and I respect him. For a guy with his clean white t-shirt tucked in he is one tough sucker.

Had this chalked up as a loss about 30 minutes ago

They have shown they know how to score when they need it, and the defense has made some crushing plays  late in games. There is no choice but to stay tuned for the full 60 minutes, I’m liking them better each week.

First game back in Washington since he left, huge win for Cousins

A few thoughts. Washington was a bad match-up problem for our offense b/c that D-line is really, really good. They might be the best line we see until the playoffs. At the same time, their secondary isn't bad and St. Juice (sp) is really coming into his own and played well against Jefferson. So we had match-up problems all day. We still won. It was a bit concerning that we had that great opening drive, Washington adjusted their defense, and we couldn't do much for two quarters. KOC probably needs to understand defenses a bit more so he can adjust quicker? Not sure but it seemed like we were just banging our head constantly for most of the game, absent the first drive and the last, what, seven minutes?

I don't think this defense is great but they are getting better. That's really encouraging. I don't like 3-4 defenses but the coaching staff is clearly working on improving things. So, good for them.

And, outside of the kicker, special teams has become a strength. This is nice to see. I figure we finish with the second best record in the NFC.

The division could be ours for years if Rodgers leaves as it looks like he will

Hope so.

But ugh, now I'm going to be dreading the rest of the year that GB will somehow end up with a top five pick and snag another decade-and-a-half franchise QB. I assume Rodgers has too much pride to tank, I'm quite confident their front office doesn't though.

We still have to face the jets who have a defense that leads the league in QB pressures. Yesterday was bad for the Oline. Guys were coming in untouched. Other guys were just tossing our linemen aside.

I too wonder about KOC’s ability to make in game adjustments. We’ve been terrible in the third quarter most of the season. After the offense went off script after the first drive, they did nothing until late in the 4th. Concerning.

One fly in the ointment for finishing with the 2nd seed is seattle. They’re somehow 6-3. Now we have an angry buffalo team coming up and a game with Dallas then a short week against the patriots. Thank goodness they pulled it out yesterday, although now that only one team gets a bye it’s a little less imperative to finish second

I didn’t even think of that. Basically 2 quarterbacks over the last 30 years. Incredible fortune. Hopefully they’ll draft a bust and spend year after year trying to figure out the QB situation. They’re due for a downturn.

I hope the downturn is long, makes the fans apathetic and forces them to play half of their home games in Milwaukee again. Just like they did before Favre showed up.

OK, the Colts fired Frank Reich. Another team that had a long stretch of getting lucky in the draft with two back-to-back excellent QBs. If the Packers want to tank, they're going to have competition; the Colts almost certainly are looking for a high pick to grab a QB now.

Probably not why he got fired, but Reich, almost certainly wouldn't have been on board with tanking. Fire the HC, OC and QB and your team will probably fall apart all on it's own.

I too would like KOC to adjust better, but it is his first year so I'm not too worried .....

The OL nearly got Cousins killed, and watching the highlights on YouTube, there appeared to an awful lot of catchable passes on 3rd down that were not caught. A couple of those get caught, and the official doesn't gift WAS a TD, and this game isn't close, imo.

None of it has been pretty, but they are 7-1. I don't like their odds the next few weeks, but they should win at least 5 more games. Seattle might pass them for the second seed, but there isn't much competition at the top of the NFC.

Also, the new TE seems like he'll be a good fit. Nice first game for him.

Proving "the playbook is hard to learn, so we shouldn't make trades" theory to be bunk. He played nearly every snap yesterday (and was the best TE they've had in years, by far).

Yeah I can’t see the Packers going full tank mode. There are too many legitimately bad teams in front of them to get a top 3 pick.

They’re making the tank pretty blatant by promoting Jeff Saturday to interim HC (from being a consultant, having never coached before!) Jim Irsay was micromanaging things, but now he’s fully taken over operations in Indy. Can’t imagine their GM is around for much longer.

Top three would be hard  but if the season ended today, they'd be tied for the 6th pick. I'd like to see them draft lower than that as I don't want them getting to roll the dice on any of the top three QBs.

They did just lose to the Lions, a team that's supposed to have a top 2 pick in the bank. They scored only 9 points and no other team has failed to score fewer than 24 points against Detroit so far, a team which is averaging 32 points allowed. GB is only a 1/2 game ahead of them.

I'd like to see Rodgers quit on the team or "get injured" and see Jordan Love play just well enough to make GB think about drafting another position.

So Josh Allen may have a UCL injury?

How many children were sacrificed for the making of this season?

I wish he was healthy so we’d have an accurate reading on where we stand in the NFL.
