Dan Rohlfing is my second Adopt-a-Prospect choice. Rohlfing got some attention this spring when he stayed with the Twins through the balance of spring training. He hit well and did a good job receiving. As well, Dan played first base and left field for the Twins in March.

Rohlfing is 24 years old and was drafted out of high school in the 14th round. He was born and raised in the St. Louis area. Dan is 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. Rohlfing was an high school all-conference third baseman as a junior and won All-State honors as a catcher in his senior year.

Rohlfing has moved through the lower minor a step at a time. His stats have been unimpressive, never reaching a .700 OPS. This season, however, Rohlfing is off to a good start. hitting .329 with a .768 OPS.

Rohlfing's future would seem to be as a utility player, capable of manning the mitt and mask, and being able to put up a good at-bat. His profile matches Chris Herrmann, who is a level ahead of him. It seems to me that one of the two will get quite a bit of playing time with the Twins, but I doubt both would be fixtures at the major league level.

Rohlfing remains at New Britain, playing catcher, first and outfield. His stat line is .274 BA, slashes of .369/.316/.685. The batting average and OBP are fine, but Rohlfing has only 4 extra-base-hits, all doubles.

Rohlfing promoted to Rochester to take the place of C-OF Chris Herrmann. He has played in two games for the Red Wings and is 4-5, including a home run and also has two walks. Rohlfing played regularly for New Britain and had only seven extra base hits (all doubles) among his 34 total safeties. He left NB with a .274 BA and .703 OPS.

Dan Rohlfing has continued at Rochester and he has continued to produce. After going 4-4 tonight against Gwinnet, Rohlfing is hitting .383 at Rochester with an OPS of .966. He, like Chris Herrmann, seems to have benefited from a promotion based on his ability to play multiple positions as well as catch.

Rohlfing got the game-winning hit last night with a walkoff single to plate the tying and winning runs for Rochester. Today he added his second homer for the Red Wings (2 more than he hit for New Britain). Combining his numbers from New Britain and Rochester for 2013 (which would do away with SSS argument), Rohlfing has a slash line of .407/.410/.817 in about 210 plate appearances.

Rohlfing cooled considerably at Rochester and was sent back to New Britain after Chris Herrmann returned to the Red Wings. His triple slash numbers (with a .314 BA) were .402/.430/.832. Rohlfing has played outfield and some catcher upon his return to the Rock Cats and is currently hitting .262 with a slash line of .366/.315/.681.
