Bat Night

I noticed that the Seattle Mariners have brought back Bat Night, when kids 14 & under get a full-sized Louisville slugger.

 

It brought back fond memories of the few bat giveaways I went to at Met Stadium back in the 60s and 70s. I remember sitting there in the stands and every so often, when we needed a big hit, all the kids started pounding their bats on the concrete steps, in unison. The sound was awesome. There still were a couple of those bats sitting in mom's garage last year when we cleaned it out.

 

Anybody else have a fond memory of bat day? Now that we have outdoor baseball again, wouldn't it be nice to bring that back?

I like it. They could call Blackburn up for that night and everyone would get to go home with a bat and a ball.
