Brad Doolittle of ESPN suggested the Twins get in on Ohtani.  Now I think he's being somewhat flippant with this, but the fact the took the time to write about during the last 5 days of the trade deadline is interesting.  Will it happen?  I'm 99.9% sure it won't, but wouldn't that be fun!  Would it be worth it to give up Kiriloff and Royce for 2 years of ShoTime?

The article is behind a paywall but a snippet is below.

The Los Angeles Angels should trade Shohei Ohtani to the ...

Doolittle: Why should big markets get to have all the fun? The Minnesota Twins are all-in after signing Carlos Correa. They need a No. 1 starter but also could use an everyday DH to plug into the middle of their lineup. This move, along with additional moves to deepen the bullpen, would make Minnesota a very dangerous team in the playoffs this season and next. Of course, the Twins need to get to the playoffs first, and with Ohtani on board, that would help them finally gain some separation in the AL Central race. After next season, when Ohtani hits free agency, then the big-market teams can get another crack.

Minnesota has good depth in the pitching prospects the Angels need (Josh Winder for starters) but can also offer up near-ready position talent like Alex Kirilloff and the currently injured Royce Lewis from position groups where the Twins have decent coverage. Maybe they can expand the prospect pool just a little and get Noah Syndergaard from the Halos as well. I need to see this happen.

Fun to think about even if it is unlikely to happen. So since it is all hypothetical, I think you just empty to farm system to go all in. Get Ohtani, Castillo, some high end bullpen help, sign them all along with Correa long to more than just the next year or so.  Make a run for a few years and trade them to start to reload.

No, Please don't trade Kirilloff to any team,  He has a lot of potential!

I trade AK and his 5 years of control for 1 year and 2months of unbelievable talent like Ohtani every time. Don't like adding Lewis but if that is what it takes so be it. I am all in on this not likely to happen trade. I am sick of waiting for potential when this trade would make us instant contenders this year and if things go well next year as well (and if not next year they could always trade him, sure they wouldn't get back as much as the gave but the return should still be pretty good)

Lewis is the only bright spot for this front office's top drafts so far and the only elite prospect in the entire Twins' system. The Twins have no shortstop again next year and no shortstop of the future waiting in the minors at the moment. If this front office deals Lewis, they need a deep postseason run to keep their jobs, IMHO.

I kinda agree with this statement but I'm not totally sure Lewis is a shortstop and although Jermaine Palacios is not exactly a spring chicken he is a true shortstop and has begun to hammer AAA pitching. Maybe we shouldn't all just forget about Palacios quite yet. The Twins absolutely need to square away their pitching staff however, and right now is as good a time as any to get started on that project.
