Baldelli

Baldelli needs to treat his pitchers like men.  None of them can throw more than one inning.  They have no endurance.  There is no competition between pitchers.   They're brought in with no runners on base, thus each of them pitch like they're throwing batting practice. We have good pitchers if you treat them as an asset and have right coaching.  If a pitcher has good stuff, keep them in there.  If not pull them out.  They can develop into a Verlander or Maddox, but there is no chance of it because of Baldelli's guessing game. The biggest problem we have is the head coach.  Nice person I'm sure, but he needs to reward output.  For what reason would Arraez not play?  Are you going help develop him into Rod Carew or make him sit on the bench in place of Sano, or a lefty starting.  Please.  Baldelli for some reason punishes a good player.  Why did Celestino bat ninth while in the bigs?  He had a hot bat for weeks, but was humiliated batting 9th every game, thus extinguishing output.  NY plays the same lineup every day.  They compete daily for their positions.  What is their record? Hmmm... Balldelli has  different lineup every game.  He routinely benches players who expect to play.  There is so much negative reinforcement going on.  Here's an example of what Baldelli says every game to many players,  "Hey Louie, great game last night going 4 for 5 and 3 rbi's.  For that reason, you are benched tonight."  There, I said it.

I am most frustrated by not having one or two set lineups. And playing players out-of-position as often as he can.

Plus bullpen by some 8-ball tarot card system.

Starting pitchers are supposed to adjust, and maybe even get better the longer they pitch. You pitch them as far as you can, not take them out early.

Yes, the Twins used msot of their pitchers wisely. Be hard-pressed to have any of them now, it seems, to even hit the 150 inning mark this season. WBut that also means they should be getting better the second half.

That the Twins are in first place is truly amazing.

Who is playing out of position? And don't say Miranda, because that's just false, imo.

And don't say Gordon, either. He had a lot of time in the OF last year and they've converted him to a super utility payer, I think, quite successfully.

Yankees Lineups since the break:
DJ- Rizzo- Judge- Carpenter- Torres- Hicks- IKF- Locastro- Higashioka
Judge- Torres- Carpenter- Stanton- Donaldson- Hicks- IKF- Locastro- Higashioka
DJ- Judge- Rizzo- Stanton- Donaldson- Trevino- IKF- Locastro- Gallo
DJ- Judge- Rizzo- Torres- Donaldson- Carpenter- Hicks- IKF- Higashioka
DJ- Judge- Rizzo- Torres- Carpenter- Hicks- IKF- Trevino- Gallo
DJ- Judge- Rizzo- Torres- Carpenter- Donaldson- Hicks- IKF- Trevino
DJ- Judge- Rizzo- Torres- Carpenter- Donaldson- Hicks- IKF- Higashioka

So if by "same lineup every day" you mean "no repeats in lineup for the last 7 games in a row" you'd be completely correct.

I'm talking the first 5 batters full season, usually.  Twins, nothing close to that. Not even.  Arraez is on the bench a lot.  He should lead off every game, all the time.  His performance is dropping too due to negative reinforcement. He earned the first spot just like DJ. You reward positive results.  Negative reinforcement happens a lot in the dugout. Just my opinion though.

Twins last 7 lineups:
Arraez- Correa- Buxton- Kepler- Polanco- Kirilloff- Miranda- Gordon- Sanchez
Arraez- Correa- Buxton- Kepler- Polanco- Kirilloff- Gordon- Urshela- Sanchez
Arraez- Correa- Buxton- Kepler- Polanco- Kirilloff- Miranda- Gordon- Sanchez
Arraez- Correa- Polanco- Kepler- Kirilloff- Miranda- Gordon- Urshela- Sanchez
Arraez- Correa- Polanco- Kepler- Kirilloff- Gordon- Miranda- Urshela- Sanchez
Buxton- Correa- Polanco- Garlick- Miranda- Urshela- Kirilloff- Sanchez- Sano
Arraez- Correa- Buxton- Polanco- Miranda- Kirilloff- Garlick- Gordon- Sanchez

I'd say that's awfully consistent top 5 there...Actually it's a super consistent top 6 with very minimal changes in the total 9 at all. You're more than welcome to have whatever opinion you want, but your opinion isn't based on much of the reality of the situation.

Buxton missed first 2 games out of the break after getting an injection in his knee, Kepler missed last 2 games hurt, Arraez didn't start against a lefty. Negative reinforcement isn't effecting anyone's play. That's not a thing that's happening.

Not the first 100 games.  NY has consistency.  That is why they are .667.  They make the players compete.

I mean you're provably wrong. Again, you're welcome to your opinion, but your opinion is easily proven to be incorrect.

It's very realistic.  Check the data for the year, not 7 games. The first 5 positions also, not 9.   There are better hitters than Buxton, so those hitters should be rewarded. Buc, when he does not strike out and hits .280, he can move back up.   You need to have the competition and drive.  Celestino should have been second in the line up for six weeks at .300 - .320, but was not. Ninth every game. If Baldelli is data-driven, this should have been the case.

IKF is hitting .275 for the Yankees. 3rd best on the team among qualified hitters. Why isn't he hitting in their top 5 like you suggest he should be? Anthony Rizzo is last amongst their qualified hitters at .223 and you're all excited that he's consistently in their top 5. Donaldson is second to last at .226 and also consistently in their top 5. Again, you're provably wrong. By all means provide a different example now that the Yankees clearly don't fit your narrative, but you're wrong on this.

Arraez currently leads all Twins players with 88 games played. I'm not sure where you're getting your info from.

Also leads the team in PAs.

Pop quiz (no fair looking it up): who is 2nd on the team in PAs?

Truth in advertising, I would not have gotten this correct.

With 11-13 pitchers and a total of 26 on the active roster that only leaves 3-5 bench players for any given game with the dh in effect. That is really what drives all of the roster moves because the emphasis on bull pen relief early in games is basically forced on managers. I posted on another thread that Baldelli needs to decide who his starters are but I admit I was wrong because in reality most of the players get into every game one way or another. Just look at the box scores. I do think Baldelli cracks the whip early in many cases and exhausts his lineup by mid innings in many games and seems to go strictly by analytics instead of giving players a few abs if they are starters. That is just a snap shot opinion. In the end, wins and losses are all that matter and right now the Twins are in a critical run of games that could reveal whether they will be a team fighting to be a .500 team or will still chase the 90 win mark. Baldelli will have a lot to do with that.
