Another bullpen implosion, at least in my eyes.

AARGH!

Is it really an implosion?

Final line on the bullpen: 5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 7 K.

It's not lights out, but far from an implosion in my mind.  I just hate the walks.

Hard to believe that the team with the better late inning bullpen won. Again.

They weren't that good. It's just that the Twins didn't get any hits when they were pitching.

Which is uncommon for the two biggest offenders.

I mean, you look at the ERA of most of the BP pitchers and things look good. They just always drop the ball when it matters most. Why? Everyone seems to have the yips.

I called it that because no sooner did we take the lead, bullpen gave it up.  Then our all or nothing offense went completely silent.  Then a boatload of walks at inopportune times led to our eventual downfall.

My logic, FWIW.

If Duran appears in the 8th inning and throws over 30 pitches (so he won't be able to pitch the 9th), the Twins tend to be completely screwed.

I personally like saving him for the 9th in a non lead situation. But he struggled and is now probably unavailable for tomorrow

The 8th could’ve sunk it with the walks. The 9th did! A bullpen arm has one job - to get outs. Not out men on base by cute pitching.

the Twins need some bullpen help.

What was the reasoning with the order for guys out of the pen tonight?

BINGO!

No they were good, twins had no competitive at bats.

What I said was what some manager said about Bob Gibson. Can't remember who. It was in Ken Burns' Baseball. Tongue in cheek.

"Gibson's not that good. It's just the other teams don't get any hits the day he pitches."

I missed the sarcasm there

For the record, Stringer, Indiana Twin and Chief managed to get together in the 5th, witnessed Urshela's go ahead 3 run dong over a beverage (thanks Stringer!) and immediately agreed 6 runs wouldn’t be enough to win. Real geniuses, us three.
