I hate to bring this up, but this is year 30 for the Marlins.  During that time, they have won two while the Twins have none.

And, plesae...use the same lineup twice. I always felt it was more important to have same people batting in front and behind you rather than total pitcher matchups. Players work off of each other. Get comfortable. See how a pitcher regularly approaches a batter before you.

I've come to the conclusion that it might not be pampering of the starting pitching on the Twins rotation.  I mean limiting pitches and inning is usually reserved for April and part of May to build stamina.  What I think this is at this point in time is the twins brass and management don't have confidence in the pitchers in the starting rotation.  I mean the Astros have total confidence in guys like Verlander etc.....  The Twins pull starters early not necessarily because they can't throw 100 pitches, I mean my 12 year old has thrown 90+ pitches in games, the Twins pull these starters because they don't think they can be successful past 2 times through the lineup.  So I agree that I'd like to see starters go longer, but I don't think it's pampering, I don't think they trust them.

 

So like you said it's the 3rd time through the order that the Twins brass is scared of.  But my next question is..... If they never get to face the order 3 times, al la in the minors, etc.... How the heck do you know if they can do it or not?  Gotta let them do it once in awhile.
