I don't see a lot of gain by putting in Contreras there.

That was my thought too.  And doesn't the move mean Rocco has to burn another player for the field?

Speed, Miranda like Kirilloff is far from a speedster on the bases.

Yeah, but two outs with a guy on second who isn't dirt-slow in the seventh inning, a guy who will likely come to bat again this game.

The likelihood of Contreras scoring where Miranda doesn't in that situation is really low.

Amazing as badly as the Twins are whiffing, Smeltzer has really had Cleveland whiffing more and the Twins may lose one to zero with out a home run.

OK, they may lose two to one without a home run. (The above jinxed Cleveland so maybe this will help.)

True.  But what if he only hit a single?  Miranda on second where Contreras should be on third.

Yeah, which is why I don't like it. Again, easy decision in the eighth or ninth but not a move I make in the seventh.

Agree completely.  That's the point I was trying to make initially.

They probably ran it in a computer to see what analytics said.?

Two outs, runners are going on contact. If the ball reaches the outfield, Miranda likely scores.

Yeah.  Who know.  You're probably right.

I'm not saying I was a fan of that move either, just playing a little devil's advocate.
