Twins 6, Rays 5: Arraez Slam Leads Twins over Rays

Recommended Posts

This is a message for twins personal if they are reading...

Resting 2 critical players ( Buxton and Correa  ) on a weekend game at home that fans pay to see is not acceptable  ,,,

Rest your players on the road ,,, baseball is losing attendance already and now your loyal twins fans could decide not to attend games because their favorite players  ( good players ) might not be in the game ....

Rest them on the road and give the fans their monies worth at home...

No matter what the explanation actually is, I don’t think Rocco was being particularly honest with Gleeman, as a little logic reveals the inanity of Rocco’s rambling, incoherent non-answer.

The FO and Rocco  have never been straightforward TO THE FANS with there BS

I'll disagree with this. I believe that during the regular season it's the head coach/manager's responsibility to set the team up as well as possible for the playoffs/postseason. That can often mean not going all-out to win a particular game. An example of this would be playing second-line players against a non-division opponent with the goal of resting front-line players for an important upcoming intra-division series.

Can't totally disagree with your counterpoint. However, if Rocco knows days in advance which players are "scheduled" for an off day (and he has offered that argument) then the Twins should publish the "carved-in-stone" schedule on their website at least a couple weeks in advance so fans can pick which games they want to attend. I'm thinking of those families that live two-four hours from the stadium and have a kid who wants to come see his favorite players take the field. I used to be one of those families and my son would choose which games we should attend based on who was going to pitch.

But if the Twins actually did post their "rest" schedule in advance, I'd bet attendance would drop when players like Buxton or Correa we're scheduled to be watching from the dugout. Can't imagine ownership would like that.

Arreaz was a household name in 2019 ....

He took his opportunity in 2019  and proved to me he was a major leaguer  after 2 months  , his hitting  was for real ( I usually need  3 years to evaluate  what kind of player  they will be ... not arreaz , I knew he was a major league hitter right away ) ...

Bats like gwynn and hits like carew  ...

I cringed everytime someone suggested to trade him  , maybe the non believers  will be believers now and his defense is acceptable in his utility role ( better than the white Sox defense ) ...

Arreaz ( major leaguer  ) is the twins spark plug and now with his grand slam he is arreaz ( the big leaguer ) .... Major leaguers grand slam is the highlight of the season ...

It will remain the highlight of the season  until the twins win a playoff game  ... he sparked this win with his first grand slam , and to the non believers he is a major leaguer and now a big leaguer  ...

He loves the game of baseball  and it shows , he plays big  ...

I love what he brings to the plate and admire every at bat  .... remember that at bat where he had to replace schoop  being injured with an 0-2 count and 2 outs and managed to draw a walk against mets diaz the fireballer I believe ,,, he almost sparked a win but ended up on third as the tying run to end the game ,,, What a spark he is to this lineup ...

Major leaguer  will definitely be in the allstar game this year ,,, the fans across the country should take notice and vote him in ,,,

He also , if his success continues  will have mvp consideration votes ...

Keep playing major leaguer and don't change a thing in the game you love ...

I just want to point out in a non-snarky way you misspelled his name (it's ARRAEZ) 3 times in your post. Outside of Twins territory and fandom most people still have no idea who he is.

So the fans should have a say in who plays and who doesn't? Maybe the fans should be setting the batting order too. And make pitching changes, make defensive substitutions, put in pinch hitters, decide when to send the runners, etc etc etc.

It's possible for the front office to consider the impact on attendance and revenue, and put in a good word to the manager whom they employ at will, without going to silly extremes.

Right, so Why a scheduled day off? He'd only played 3 days. One at DH.

Some sort of injury? OK.

Covid fatigue? Maybe, I guess, but that seems unlikely, and that's not what Baldelli implied.

But a previously scheduled day off? Which would have had to have been scheduled much earlier? They're not setting up a new schedule that has him resting after 3 days.

So again...seems odd.

Are you suggesting that Rocco would BS us?  I am shocked.  SHOCKED!  :)

I have said this before (and before, and before..........), that we have to remember:  the plan is the plan; individual games do not change the plan.  Wins and losses do not change the plan.  Injuries do not change the plan.  But most importantly, the plan is on a need to know basis.  And guess who doesn't need to know?

My guess is it was a part of his Covid IL activation plan with the health team.

Thanks I didn't catch that arraez name was spelled incorrectly  ,,, you do know spell check is not smarter than a fifth grader  ....

If they don't know Arraez  around the leagues fan base they soon will know ... I'm sure there are more that are familiar with him than you think  ,,, I'm not sure he even has a slot on a allstar ballot which is a shame because he is classified as a utility player...  a write in vote on my ballot when I get around to it ,,, So better get cracking

He's listed as a first baseman on the ballot, I've seen multiple people screenshot their ballot with him on it and post it on Facebook and get ridiculed for it. It's pretty unfortunate.

Ridiculed by whom? Twins fans or non-Twins fans? None of my Twins fan friends would do this.

Saying that the manager should consider the home fans when deciding how to manage his lineup can be considered a silly extreme.

Yabbut the manager doing what the boss tells him is not a silly extreme. :)
