In Pagan's last 12 outings.... since the blow up against Cleveland.... he has been pretty great.

11.1 IP, 3.18 ERA, 2.23 FIP, 1.91 xFIP, 21 K's, 2 BB.

The game against San Diego he took the loss for, the hits against him were a grounder an average 1B makes a play on and a flair off the end of the bat that fell into RF. He does give up the occasional long ball, but when he isn't walking guys he is a + reliever.

Even the worst relievers get the job done more often than not. They all go through streaks. He will blow up again shortly. Absolute guarantee. Teams like the Yankees or Dodgers would have DFAd him ages ago. I understood before the deadline because they didn’t have anyone better but now they have better and they’re demoting them to AAA because they won’t move on. Newsflash to the Twins- you still need to win the division. It’s not being handed to them.

No they wouldn't have. Pagan's numbers are right in line with Chapman from the Yankees and Kimbrel from the Dodgers.

All relievers are 1 or 2 bad outings from having a bad back of the baseball card.

Chapman and Kimbrel will receive HOF votes when all is said and done. Pagan has never and will never be any good. Your comparison is embarrassing

You might be right! Although since Cotton is out of options, the bigger hurdle is generally the 26-man roster spot.

Not to mention that Cotton has already been DFA'd 3 different times this year... and then also brought up during the COVID stretch... yeah, the Twins clearly wish he had an option left.

Speaking of avoiding work on a Friday afternoon, I took a spin through the Hitting statistics for the St. Paul Saints to see if we could find and promote that elusive additional bat that we need. Boy was that depressing. Frankly, the best hitter left down there is Jermaine Palacios. We saw what he can do when he was up for Correa; good glove, no bat. Looks like we'll have to find that additional offense from Gordon, Cave, Kepler's return, or somebody another team lets go.

Michael Helman is hitting better than Palacios, is also stealing bases, and plays all over the field. Was Rule 5 eligible last winter, and will be again this winter.

Good point. I guess I overlooked Helman because the Saints page lists him as an IF and I think we're really in need of a RH hitting OF. Has he played any LF? We are going to face 3 or 4 LH starters this week - Urias of the Dodgers, and Detmers and Saurez of the Angels for sure. The Wednesday Dodger game is TBD for the Dodgers since Kershaw is out. I think a RH OF is an important missing piece for this roster, especially with an very uncertain return time for Garlick. I was hoping to find that on the Saints' roster to replace Beckham or Cave but I'm not seeing it.

Twins claim Jake Jewell off waivers from Guardians. He’s a right hander. He takes Duffey’s spot on the 40 man. He has options remaining, so likely left with Saints for now.

The Twins will have to find 40-man spots if an when they activate Dobnak, Ober and Winder.

To be truthful, Jewell is just fodder for AAA. His career MLB numbers are awful. -0.8 WAR, career 1.617 WHIP, 7.75 ERA. We don’t need someone with career numbers worse than Duffey or Pagan. He’ll be one of the first off when 60 day guys need to be activated.
